What are you playing?

So, got my Blood Angles Codex.

Budgeting a 750 point battle, this is what I've got planned, and would like your input.

Let's see, if I make the Captain into a Terminator Captain, that's +40 points, but he gains a storm bolter and power sword instead of boltgun and chainsword, as well as having Terminator Armor in addition to his Iron Halo. - 140 pts

Tactical squad, plus 5 more marines, + 80 (16*5) points, since there's 10 I can replace 1 boltgun with a meltagun +5, replace 1 boltgun with Heavy Bolter (free) - honestly, I think that'll do me a lot better than the missile launcher (I roll lousy on the scatter dice), and the sergeant replaces boltgun with chainsword (free) - 175 points for the unit.

Death Company squad, plus 2 additional guys, for a squad of 5, that's +40 points. - 100 points

So that's HQ and two Troops, at 415 points.

Now, since I have Death Company, as an additional Troop I can add a Death Company Dreadnought, for 125, and replace the blood fists with blood talons (free), retaining the storm bolter and meltagun. The paired Blood Talons are functionally Lightning Claws, but for every unsaved wound they cause in close combat, the dreadnought makes an additional attack - and can keep generating additional attacks until no further unsaved wounds are caused, or all of the enemy are slain.

That's 540 points.

For 750, I add a squad of Assault Terminators, and have 2 replace their dual lightning claws with thunder hammer & storm shield (5 points each), - 210 pts, putting me at exactly 750.

It's generally a close-quarters combat troop, admitted, but since probably most of the time I'll be fighting Orks, Chaos, and Black Templars, that might not be a bad thing.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Oh gods, I'm no authority on Blood Angels. I'm basically throwing a crap ton of vehicles together and seeing what I like. Space Marines are still a mystery to me!

You're already playing Blood Angels. Aside from learning the regular rules, you just need your codex's "kill everyone" rules. Your list appears to have one of those "fuck 'em all up" dreadnoughts special to the Blood Angels. You don't need any advice.

I would question paying the points for the Termie-Captain... You end up losing the extra attack for Pistol/Close Combat weapon, even though you're getting the extra ranged attack from the Storm Bolter... I'd rather just pay for the power sword, give him a plasma pistol, and not worry about that extra +1 to your armor.

But that's me - I run plasma-heavy in all my armies. Nothing like seeing a command squad of IG nuking tanks like it's cool. *grins*

That, and I have forgiving dice.

In fact... the only MAJOR incident I've had with plasma was when Kharn the Betrayer self-immolated. *mutter mutter*

See, I'm really lucky I didn't take any plasma weapons, because last game, I rolled a one twenty-three times. My army would have blown itself up.

And I don't really know the basic rules yet. I got a little too hung up on the assault infantry with jump packs, after seeing how awesome the jump pack was in Space Marine, and that 100 point squad got raped by Bruno's MegaNobz.

Hmm, for 10 points less I can outfit the captain with a power sword or lightning claw and Infernus Pistol, which is a meltagun pistol. That might well be worth doing.

Can't really use that 10 points anywhere, unless I change the assault terminators to 4 with thunder hammers and storm shields and one with paired lightning claws.

TH/SS Terminators are pretty much going to own anything they come up against, but only if they get there in time to fight. Deep striking is risky, without a teleport homer.

I just realized that your list is SORELY lacking in transports... granted, in a 750-point game it might not be so much of an issue, but if you can't get to the enemy in a timely manner, you're not going to win anything objective-based.

Well, last time my termies got ganked by a squad of MegaNobz with Power Claws, so a 3+ invulnerable save would be really nice.

Our playfield at the moment is only 48" so transport isn't a huge issue right now. I do have a Rhino, though... might add that in for bigger battles.

In larger battles, you'll want to pad out your points with Razorbacks (Do Blood Angels get a unique variant of that? Take that, primarily, or an LC Razorback otherwise). It'll up both your ranged punch, your AT, and your transport all in one go.

All Blood Angels Rhino variants (including the Razorback) have the "Lucifer" engine, which means they're all "Tank, Fast" instead of just "Tank".

Back to Armored Core: Silent Line - I have all the parts save the following:

1 Head - MISTEYE
1 Core - CCH-04-EOC
1 Arms - Titan 4
1 Legs - XA3/LW
6 Back-mounted - HA30-4 missiles, SM 30/3 stealth missiles, TM/30 rockets, COTTOS rockets, LQ/80 laser cannon, and AD-30 ammo container.
6 Right Arm weapons - HGB/108 handgun, HGB-80 handgun, HGB-90 handgun, MWG-SBZ/48 spread bazooka, HLR-ALX fig bucking rocket, DKP/90 dual pulse rifle, XCD/100 side-by-side laser rifle.
3 Left Arm weapons - LS-3771 laser blade, MWG-HGBL-90 handgun, NHZL-60 Napalm Howizter.
1 Optional Part - EO-LAP.

I know *how* one earns them, I just so far haven't been able to do so. I'm really trying for the HLR-ALX because I think that'd be the perfect arm weapon for Megatron (the Grenade Rifle and Plasma Rifle are almost as good and what I've been using so far.)

It's funny how your perspective of the game changes. Early on, the Big White MTs are like, "Oh fuck this guy" now it's like "Yeah, eat chain gun sucker"

You have to respect a game that says "We're not even pretending you're doing anything but fucking around while playing this" and just goes with it.

I started playing Trine 2 today. Good gravy this game is gorgeous. The first game was lovely, but the team outdid themselves by far. The voice acting is back, and once again looks to be top notch. The gameplay is refined with more puzzle types even in just the first couple levels. This is looking to be like a real winner, just as I hoped it would be. Oh, and the plot seems to be more complicated this time as well. I'm so excited.

Seeing Killing Floor update with a Christmas themed event made me fire it up and give it another shot.

Man, I'd forgotten just how much of an adrenaline rush this game is. It's good in small doses, though, not for all-afternoon binges.

Killing Floor is a fun game, I usually play it once a month... and pull an all-nighter.

The only problem is I'm already LVL on all my fav classes. I play on Insane and can't get enough of that.

Damn, killing floor looks like fun! I can't believe I missed that game when it came out. Anyone know how much it costs on Steam? (I can't check from work... blah).

I bought Killing Floor and all the DLC back when it was on sale during the Steam Summer Camp. I have yet to actually install and play it for more than 5 minutes though.

It's 8 bucks for the game and all the DLC until the 12th, in honor of their Christmas event. That's 75% off. You REALLY want to get it now.

Sure thing... I should have some free time coming up just before Christmas... if I see you online we will have to set up a game (and you'll have to put up with me not knowing what the hell is going on lol).

Just finished New Vegas tonight. Probably going to play it again soon. The factions system makes for more replayability than the karma system in Fallout 3. And there's still a tonne of side quests I never got to.

When DLC goes on sale again I'll probably buy some of that too.

You could probably get all the DLC cheaper by just buying the Game of the Year version.

The GOTY edition doesn't seem to be available on Steam. I picked the game up during the Black Friday crazy sale, and I won't be picking up any DLC until prices like that hit again.
Just found out why it's not on Steam: It won't be out till Feb. So yeah... wait till the Christmas sale and sweep up the DLC if it's on sale or get the GotY version in Feb. Considering the DLC is something like 45-48 bucks combined, it's probably the best deal and you can just gift the actual game to a friend or something.

Anyone know if/when EA is releasing Mass Effect 2:GotY Edition? I assume it'll be out around the time ME3 hits but they haven't said anything and I am NOT paying full price on DLC for a game that's 2+ years old.

Also, I finally installed Killing Floor and gave it a try. It's fun, but you REALLY need a good team to do it and it's hard to jump into the middle of a round without getting wasted. Also, Sharpshooter is stupid easy to raise.

I wish Killing Floor gave me more motivation to be killing these specimens. That's the only weakness I find in the game, there's no storyline to keep me hooked.
