You don't just "lose" 8 precincts worth of votes when the results are that close and a recount is inevitable. I still find it surprising that we don't have armed guards watching over the ballets after the 2000 Presidental election.
But let's assume that it wasn't willful destruction for a moment... if Romney really DID lose the Iowa primary and he loses North Carolina (considering Steven Colbert is polling higher than he is, this is a possibility)... what is the GOP going to do? Are they really going to blow their wad on a candidate their own party hates, or are they going to nominate someone else to appeal to the ultra hardliners and attempt to pacify them until 2014's Congressional elections?
