[Webcomic] The Order of the Stick thread

Honestly, at this point I'd just take any further money and make some OotS Webisodes or maybe a DVD. Maybe a full-on campaign setting book for Pathfinder or 3.5.

Welp, I finally broke down and backed them, as well. $62 for one print-only book (probably Start of Darkness) and one regular book (probably Dungeon Crawling Fools, unless a friend of mine already has it; he's willing to give it to me). Plus a crapload of stuff, as listed above. :D

Yep, this is still going strong, and has forced Rich Burlew to recalculate his expenses:

Explanation for the grey line: I've added a new grey line to the chart called "Administrative Stuff" that requires a little explaining. There are a few fees and expenses that I calculated pretty well at the beginning of this pledge drive that have since been blown out of the water by its success. I'd prefer not to go into too much detail, but suffice to say that even though my spreadsheets included a percentage allocated to this or that, the raw numbers that have been posted will, in and of themselves, change what that percentage is going to end up being. The bottom line is that an appointment I went to this morning has lead me to recalculate what those expenses will look like, and the grey line represents the difference between my old calculations and my new ones. To be clear, I'm not so much asking you to pay those fees for me as I am explaining what this next chunk of money will be spent on. I'm not just pocketing it, and if we don't reach that line, I don't doubt that I'll be able to work it out another way. But I'm trying for maximum transparency here, and that includes telling you where the money's going.

At least one guy in the comments suggested that dragon is meant to represent Double Fine.

In Rich's defence, he managed to make $600k with only 8,000 people. Then again, he's offering a lot of varied sweet packages, whereas the majority of backers for Double Fine are $15.

I'm a little confused about what the administrative stuff is, exactly. Someone in the Kickstarter comments theorized it was to pay someone to help him with all these orders.

Like I said in the comments thread, there are some costs that don't increase linearly, like taxes and storage costs. In addition, at some point it's no longer feasible for one person to just put extra hours in to get everything processed and shipped, so the costs of processing essentially doubles or triples. So, assuming he had an initial percentage planned on for overall costs, once the volume got bumped up a tier, the percentages were no longer sufficient.

Pretty good for an expository comic. I think my favorite part:

The pun in the title only sunk in after I finished reading.

It just keeps going and going...

Also, if you'll note the newest mystery reward, Rich has said he'll update with a new OOTS comic every day until the pledge drive is over. So, 7 more consecutive days of OOTS!
