Games on SALE!

There's another game that's on sale right now, too. The Dream Machine. It's a new adventure game series. However, what sets it apart is its visual style. The creators made the game with claymation and cardboard. I have to say, it creates a very unique style with more visual depth than I've seen in many adventure games and games in general. First two episodes are only $4, so I really recommend checking this out.

God, I wish GoG would get this game.
Months ago I heard from someone who claimed to have talked to the creator, and that the rights to the Neverhood had been worked out, but I haven't heard anything since. Missing that game is one of my gaming regrets.

I would never have payed it any mind, but after checking out the video that looks 2 dollars neat for sure.

Also, it goes without saying, Super Meat Boy is fucking awesome.

Steam one-day: Take On Helicopters $24.99
Steam weekend sale: Ubisoft Weekend
Ghost Recon Complete Pack $7.49 ; individual titles $1.24 - $2.49
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier $49.99 for the deluxe edition (normally $54.99)

Amazon.com has a lot of sales right now. Slickdeals has more details. My top picks would be:
Scary Girl $4.99
Bioshock $4.99
both redeem on Steam (though there is an alternate option for Bioshock that doesn't).
Amazon product Amazon product

GoG.com weekend promo:

Dungeon Keeper
Dungeon Keeper 2
Populous
Populous 2
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
SimCity 2000 special edition

All for $2.99 each. It's called an "EA promo", but sort of just drives home the point that, err, Bullfrog, Maxis and Sid Meier were great once-upon-a-time, and EA has destroyed/buried some great franchises/IPs.

From May 24th - June 1st a bunch of games are going on sale "Because We May". A bunch of developers are putting their games on sale just because they can. This includes sales direct from the developers, on iOS, Android, Steam, Google Play, the Mac App Store and more. There are a ton of games that are going to be included (more than 50 on Steam alone), but the sale prices haven't been revealed yet.

Definitely some gems included, like World of Goo, the Double Fine Bundle, Braid, Super Meat Boy and a lot more. I'll update when the sale goes live.

Also upcoming The Groupees Build a Bundle starts May 21st.

- Necrovision
- Caster +OST
- Diamond Dan
- Lightfish
- Ubersoldier 2
- Dark Fall: Lost Souls
- XOTIC
- Beep
- Sideway: New York
- P.A.M.
- Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals
- The Ball
According to the video you're going to choose what games you want in your bundle, but I'm wondering how the pricing will work and how flexible it will be.

Hoo boy. I'll probably wind up getting some of those discounted games.

I have to wonder, though. With these constant Steam sales, how is it the game industry is still struggling? I mean, sure, the big triple-A developers, but isn't this kind of a boom for indie developers? Especially with all the consistent sales? Wish there was a way to find out.

That said, I'm surprised that other entertainment industries haven't jumped on this bandwagon. You look at how everyone's wallets start crying during the Steam Christmas/Boxing Week sale. Imagine transferring that to Comixology or iTunes? Then again, I don't use iTunes, so I don't know if they do something like that already.

It is a seeming boon for indie developers. Despite all the big studio doom and glooming about how Steam sales are killing the industry most indie companies see magnitudes higher sales during a daily Steam sale then they would year round on any platform.

I think the title picture they used is apt.

When the product is entirely digital and you don't lose any money on packaging or shit like that, why the fuck not go for huge bulk sales?

Honestly, the triple-a studios brought it on themselves. How often do we hear complaints for these big companies like EA? How they keep trying to shut down the used game market, etc? Hell, you look at PSN. They charge the same sodding price for online PSP games when you can get them brand-new for a lot less in retail.

It really is a matter of them pricing themselves out of the market. If your games and reputation are good enough, you don't need a massive, dollar munching corporation to advertise for you because the community will do it for you. If you aren't looking to release on disc, you have less overhead. If your not trying to turn a franchise into a yearly release, you don't need an enormous team. Basically, if you stop trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, you can still make money while controlling your IP.

The corporate model isn't going anywhere any time soon, but it's definitely not the only way into the game anymore.

Once again, I'm reminded of Valve.

Hmm, does is still redeem on STEAM? As usual I'm having trouble finding the CD key.

Hm, yeah, not finding a CD key. Might not redeem on STEAM. I has a

Steam one-day: Puzzler World 2 $1.99
Mid-week Madness:
Dead Island $11.99 ; DLC $3.99 each
Thief titles $4.99 each or $13.49 for all three.http://store.steampowered.com/sub/14734/

GamersGate is having a midweek sale on Tomb Raider games 70%-off, of those Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light redeems on Steam (and I checked this time to be sure).

Also, the Groupees Build-a-Bundle started, but forget that noise. If they can't bother to explain their pricing structure on the bundle, and require you to sign up to see how the deal works, then they aren't getting any of my money.
