[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

Hell is hard as a Barbarian. I'm playing multiplayer with a couple friends, and towards the end of Act 4 on Nightmare I had to switch from a 2hander to 1h+shield in order to get past the bosses. I've stuck with it through Acts 1 and 2 on Hell, because if I'm not tanky I die in ~5 seconds to anything that attacks me or drops heavy aoe. It's a lot of fun, and really challenging, but it's also ridiculously punishing for melee who are trying to build for damage instead of survivability.
This is pretty much how I've heard it is. I'm keeping my eye out for a solid shield on the AH or ingame, along with a good 1h to pair it with, once I move him to Nightmare (haven't played a lot this week). Moving towards the Crater in Act III now, so I'm hoping to see some decent drops from the next couple bosses. Gotten a lot of Int or Monk gear lately in terms of rares.

You know what would be really, really nice? If I could at least get gear that's close to my level to drop. I'm used to getting gear for other classes - I've played plenty of D2. But at level 51, it would be really nice to stop getting drops for level 31.

That's one thing I've noticed while leveling (I'm LVL 30)... why the fuck ire lvl 17 gear dropping still at this point.

Yeah, I'm getting a lot of this in Act III, generally my boss drop rares are close to my level (even then, maybe only 22 or so) and blues are anywhere from 13-18 or so (about to ding 30 myself). Most of my really good gear is from my brother's Monk's drops he got in Nightmare.

I got so much more completely owned by the first miniboss of Act 4 than the last ultra-boss of Act 3, before checking my Monk's gear and realizing that since I no longer was partying with a Demon Hunter, my DPS had doubled and my HP had actually dropped over the past 10 levels. A little rebalancing heped me out quite a bit. :) Also, kiting.

The problems you guys are suffering w/ low level item drops are probably because you are playing in areas below your current level. An easy rule of thumb is that at lvl 50 you should be in Hell diff. At 60 you should be finishing Hell and entering Inferno. Nightmare starts at 40(?), but honestly that seems a bit high. I think I started it at 35 or something but I can't remember.

Whenever I'm getting gear drops that are too low I just push forwards and I start getting better ones. I ALMOST beat Diablo last night on Hell diff solo, but the jerk kept killing me in the realm of terror section (or whatever it is.) With some better gear I should be able to beat him tonight.

Yeah... I'm playing on hell difficulty, still getting shitty low-level drops. I started Nightmare at 30, and hit 51 just before facing off against Diablo. Strangely enough, Izual wasn't an issue at all this time, but Diablo took some skill changes and I had to switch from my massive two-handed hammer to mace and shield for the extra protection. Why the heck would I play something other than Hell at level 51? That would be boring as all get out.

Well, I don't know what to tell you, because in Act 1 of Hell I was getting lvl 45+ drops pretty consistently.

I've definitely gotten a handful of 38+ items, but not that many really. And now that I'm in Act4 hell I'm getting almost exlclusively 58+. Clearly the act you are in affects the level of item you get, I wonder if your own level does as well, it would make sense. So since you are 51 in A1 hell you are getting 38+, but when you hit 60 in A1 hell you get like 46+

Finished on Normal. LVL 32 Wizardess.

Had to say, Diablo's fight wasn't hard to say the least. Looking forward to a challenge on Inferno tonight with the boys. I should be around tonight 8

I think you mean Nightmare.

Unless you did some SERIOUS powerleveling last night.

heh, yeah. Normal -> Nightmare -> Hell -> Inferno. That's the progression FYI.

And I'm now in inferno. We started doing The Butcher runs last night. For that you start the quest somewhere before the Warden and then get 5 stacks (you get stacks of nephalems valor for beating blues, gives a major magic find bonus) and then kill the warden and the butcher. Guaranteed to get a ton of rares.

There's a ton of people crying like babbies about Inferno being too difficult. I really hope Blizzard doesn't balance it immediately. I mean, it SHOULD be difficult. Ok, maybe it is too difficult (trash mobs will one shot you in Act 2 pretty much regardless of your HP), but I shouldn't be able to faceroll this entire game in a week and a half. Which is what everyone expects to do.

Cleared Leoric on Nightmare last night with the Barb. Got some nasty combos of champion mobs on the way (Firechain + Vortex, anything with those Goddamn Arcane death rays). My brother was on his Witch Doctor, and there's some pretty nice synergy between a Barb and WD. Hopefully solo Nightmare won't be to rough, but I'll have to AH a decent shield until I get a bit more Vitality, I think.

Poe Adam and I worked on Nightmare up to Maghda (sp) last night. Have to say, the difficulty went up but mostly because shit... SHIT keeps dropping and were simply beelining it for progression and I need hard dirty cash to upgrade my shit (through crafting and AH).

Also, this game has a few days attention before the Game of Thrones game. (which I heard may be baddish)

Let me tell you about Firechain + Vortex+ Fast + Walling mobs. Or Vampiric + Mortar + Walling + Jailer. Or ANYTHING WITH INVULNERABLE.

The bosses will not drop rares for you again until you hit 60. At that point you will need to get 5 stacks of valor before you fight them. When you hit your 5 stacks you will get at least 2 rares from each boss fight, possibly up to 4 (most I've seen so far.)

Yeah, I managed to down Leoric on a solo Hell run last night. It wasn't exactly what I'd call difficult, it just took a lot of time; like, 4+ minutes. And, I finally got some level appropriate gear to start dropping. It seems to depend on what I'm killing, trash mobs drop lower level gear, packs of elites drop level appropriate, and where I'm killing it. If I'm out in the wilds, chances seem to be that I'm going to get low level trash, higher level drops if I'm in a dungeon. Of course, none of the level appropriate gear I'm getting is class appropriate, but that's just playing Diablo. I can't even count how many really awesome katars I picked up with my barb in D2.

I'm with Necronic on the difficulty issue. Yeah, from what I've heard Inferno is damn near impossible - but the game was released last week, I don't want to be able to beat it this soon. And you know the people who are whining about not being able to faceroll the content now are the ones who'll whine that the game wasn't hard enough once they beat it, if Blizz drops the difficulty.

And boy howdy are the whiners out in force. Like 70% of the forum posts seem to be "omg blizzard I hate you you shot my dog."

It's pretty embarassing honestly to see that this is gamer culture (for D3 at least).

I was just pissed with the sloppy launch... and the constant disconnects for the first week.

Everything seems to be stable now which has actually enabled me to play and enjoy the game.

Yep, and the complaints are coming from all quarters too. "The story isn't long enough/good enough." "I'm tired of having to listen to these story points, they're getting in the way of me destroying demons." "This game is too easy." "This game is too hard." "Barbarians are OP" "It's impossible to beat the game with a barbarian." It's gotten to the point that unless there's a blue post, I don't read it.

Not the forum posts here, the ones on the battlenet forums. People here have generally been pretty chill.

I just can't stand complainers. There's a weird psychology to it that by complaining, or destroying something, they somehow show a superiority over the people that built it. I'm not saying that you don't critique, but some people (gamers in particular) complain for the sake of complaining.

Oh yeah and the absolute worst combo I've seen

Arcane enchanted + Fire Chain + Vortex + Waller

Where you going? NOWHERE.

That's pretty much par for the course for the bnet community. They're a notoriously bad community in pretty much all aspects.

The community is the only reason I have ever in the past considered not playing Blizzard games. I love the company and what they put out, but the vile stuff the community busts out just makes me sick. I am glad I know enough good people in the community to counteract it, otherwise I would have quit out of disgust a long time ago. Now I just don't even pay attention to trade or general chat, and avoid the official forums unless there is a blue post I want to read.

Beat Normal. I beat Diablo and Azmodan on the first try with no problems at all. Kind of anticlimactic. Seems weird that I had a much harder time with Belial and fuckin' Iskatu, dying several times.

Belial is hard because you don't have a lot of space to move around. Azmodan and Diablo, in contrast, have a wide open space and as long as you keep moving, the fight is fairly easy.

Currently got a mid-Act II Nightmare Demon Hunter at level 42, just under 1900 dps. Doing pretty well.

My pre-order still hasn't arrived. All of my friends are either somwhere in Hell or Inferno, or have several characters in their 30s and 40s in Nightmare. This is starting to suck quite hard.

Ok reading that Penny Arcade news part got me confused. So the items are only on a single person's screen? Is that how it works now. So if I drop an item no one else could even pick it up? There's also no more scrambling for items after a boss goes down? Also does trading with another person still work the same as d2 or do you always have to go through the auction house? Just wondering since I haven't been able to pick up the game yet.

Don't have the game myself, but
-> You can still trade between players
-> No scrambling for loot after a boss kill: all loot can only be picked up by one person
-> not 100% sure of this, but I thought you could still drop things and other players could pick them up.
