Legend of Korra

I think this past episode was extremely wishy-washy and lame. If they didn't have that shortened order, they could have milked the investigation so much more than a few ham-fisted lines. A lot of the plot progression in this one feels so rushed and misses plenty of opportunities. But I was right when I said earlier in what, episode 3, that we got to see the bad guy on full display.

I'm enjoying the hell out of the series. I feel that The Last Airbender was better, and more epic in scope, but I'm enjoying the changes they brought with this. It feels like a side-story, a smaller adventure in a different time. They already did the grand saving the world arc, now it's time for saving the city, and what looks to be the last of the bending era.

Yeah, for better or worse. I think I've mentioned before that at its best it feels like a DnD campaign I'd play in with one of my groups, and at its worst it feels like fanfiction. I'm enjoying it, much as I'd enjoy any Avatar anything, but if I'd never watched the original, this one wouldn't have sold me yet.

Super excited to be starting my Avatar d20 campaign this week. HELLA WATERBENDING STYLEZ.

That's definitely one of the things I haven't liked: Naga really isn't all that important. Appa was a major part of the team dynamic and he even made his presence felt on the battlefield from time to time. Naga really hasn't gotten that chance.

Lord of the Rings to the Silmarillion?

The truth behind the Avatar cycle:

But the guy that made the image was wrong, the missing element is SWORD!

It's stuff like this that will always make the original series so much better than Korra. Not that's it's terrible... just a notch under the original series.

They had a much more relaxed time table. Assuming a Season 3 gets green lit for Korra, we may get more comedy.

Holy shit. Holy shit. This fucking show, man.

The return of bloodbending! Team Avatar got gimped after a badass testrun, but it really seems like Tarrlok is holding all the cards now. I hope we get a Tarrlok/Amon showdown, that'd be amazing.

Is it just me or does Korra just seem obscenely more powerful than Aang ever was (outside of the Avatar state anyway)? I don't know if it's because she's just stronger or if Aang was holding back because of his beliefs, but she seems stronger than entire teams of other benders.

Did anyone else notice how Tarrlok's eye seemed to resemble someone who's been spirit bended during that fight? Also, that fight was awesome.

I think it's due to Aang's better sense of balance. He may not have been as good a bender as Korra (who remember, has been properly trained anyway as opposed to Aang's learning on the fly) but he had a better spiritual connection, which Korra lacks.

also, and I'm just going to get this out of the way now, Bolin > Sokka. Deal with it.

I think it has more to do with Korra having been trained since childhood and the fact that she's almost an adult and Aang having just learned (well relatively) that he is the Avatar.

Yeah. It's also been stated that Korra is Aang's opposite. Korra is very naturally gifted with the physical arts of bending, whereas Aang was gifted with the spiritual side.

With every new episode (especially last week's), I'm more convinced that Tarlok is Amon.

Then again, maybe that's what they want us to think.
