I'm sorry about that, North. If you don't mind my asking, would you ever be willing to do foster care and adoption? I know it isn't the same.

Well, for that I'd have to be with someone first. I'm currently not. And that's a whole 'nother can of worms.
Plus, I guess I'm a bit like Malack from the Order of the Stick. I'm afraid there wouldn't be that... I dunno, special connection.

So it's a psychosomatic issue you may or may not have with the situation. Also, yeah, it may be easier for you to foster and/or adopt if you were with someone.

Adopting is always an option. We are now 1 year into our adoption wait with no end in sight. Our profile has been viewed twice since then, once the girl changed her mind, the other girl chose another family. Of course, the $30,000 spent even getting started on adoption is a significant barrier to entry.

I'm fertile as can be, but my wife is on constant meds that pretty much destroy anything inside her. Which is good, because due to other health problems, a pregnancy would likely kill her.
Even that aside, if I ever wanted a kid, I'd want to adopt if we could get past the hurtles of low income + not being Christian. There are enough kids who need homes already without just making more.
Also, unless you can tell DNA strands by sight and touch, blood isn't going to determine connection to a child.
