[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

It almost sounds as though you are implying this versatile paragon of acting talent were anything but diverse, that his roles are entirely interchangeable between any movie in which we might find him.

Snow White and the Huntsman:
So much wasted potential. This movie could've been awesome. Certainly Charlize Theron's acting was awesome. But the other cast members, the plot, the woefully underused team of brilliant British actors who played the dwarves... so many things went wrong. And it's even more painful to watch because if they'd done it right, this movie would've been awesome.

I thought it was ok, though I do agree there was wasted potential. I was actually disappointed in Charlize Theron's performance. At times, it seemed more shrill than evil.

Also, it amused me to think that
Snow the Grey became Snow the White.

Agreed.

It was visually amazing. Some of the best applications of CGI I have ever seen in a fantasy movie, ever.

But the story was....boring. Really boring. I went to see it with my girlfriend and we both just started cracking up in the closing scene of the movie. We could not stop laughing for like the last 2 minutes.

Dark Shadows:

It wasn't as "Burtony" as I was afraid it was going to be. Much more humor. I liked it.

So...I never saw High School Muscial and wondered what it was all about, especially since it was so HUGE. Yeah, I turned it off after 5 minutes, I couldn't even handle it. Maybe when I'm in a more 'squishy' mood, I'll give it another go.

Instead I popped in Addam's Family Values. I forgot how much fun that movie is! Adore!
I love the first two Addams Family movies, I wish those had been what Raul Julia went out with instead of Goddamn Street Fighter. In fact, I think I might watch both AF movies over the weekend while I start packing. MAMUSHKA

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It is a very cute musical comedy. Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, two of the biggest.... um, yeah, NAMES in Hollywood at the time. Pretty tame by today's standards, but I still got a kick out of Jane Russell's man chasing ways.

I am currently watching Mercury Man, a Thai super hero film.

Oh my God...this is awesome bad! Like...I have no idea what is going on but it's great.

Also, if you watch this movie, keep a look out for all the graffiti referencing spider-man.

That's pretty much what I can say. One of the worst movie couples ever is in this film... Weird chemistry. It was like a douchey guy frenching his aunt.

Lotta cool parts, but yeah... Matinee it if you truly must.

Yeah, the movie critic on the news station I listen to during my commute said that it had all of the potential of a true space action movie; the exploration of a new planet galaxies away, etc., but that Ridley Scott basically trashed the film by trying to turn it into a movie as epic as the original Alien, and it just wound up being sluggish.

Sluggish and also moody. It was jarring to watch at times, not just surprising in a good way. I also think they crossed the line that separates interestingly open-ended, mysterious movies and movies that just plain don't know what's going on.

I have to disagree. We just saw it and I loved it. I have to ask, not as an accusation or anything, but have you seen all the Alien movies (Not AVP crap)? They had so many references throughout the movie that I was hopping in my seat a bit at some parts. I also noticed they're pretty much
erasing the whole AVP thing from the Alien line up with this. The fact they show a proto-xenomorph about a hundred years past the whole AVP line and flipped off the "Predators brought em to earth" load of crap.
I will admit that some stuff seemed a little like fan service, but it played out on the right aspects, for me. I'd recommend it to anyone, if they're Alien fans.

The only one I haven't seen is Alien 3. It wasn't all bad, but it definitely wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Yeah, I think you would have enjoyed Prometheus much more had you seen the first and second before hand.

But... I have seen them. Do you mean right before?
I think she misread that as you'd only seen Alien 3.

A lot of people are coming down hard on this, but I think SeraRelm and I see eye to eye on the Alien films, so I'll probably enjoy it. It certainly can't be Resurrection, AVP, or AVP: Requiem.

S

SeraRelm

Never mind, I misread and thought you'd said you ONLY saw 3. Well, I dunno then. Perhaps you went into it expecting an action movie?

But keep in mind, I still love 2001 A Space Odyssey, so maybe I enjoy the "sluggishness" since I feel it's build up and sets the atmosphere.

I think a lot of people are coming down hard on it because they want the non-stop flood that Avengers was (and which fit it perfectly) but a well paced (imo) space horror like Alien(s) shouldn't be (again, imo).
