2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine

You have to convince older, Evangelical, super-conservative Americans to stop being dumb and voting for a huckster.
Get them to listen to a filthy, liberal, atheist foreigner? I might try out something easier first - like building a perpetual motion machine!

Well, I can't help. Most them would like to behead me in the public square just for the crime of living in California.

Even if Trump became president and pulled the US out of NATO, the moment Russia attacks Poland they're be facing all of Europe. Which is definitely not as imposing military-wise as the USA, but we must definitely still have the means to turn Moscow to rubble. Not to mention the nukes, though I can't imagine the political will coming alive to go that far.

If there's a Trump supporter on this board, I'll eat my own shoe. You have to convince older, Evangelical, super-conservative Americans to stop being dumb and voting for a huckster. Good luck with that.
I have the baseball cap but no mirrored sunglasses or pickup truck to give a convincing rant in. Sorry, I don't have a shot.

I am curious how many of the old R's that were on the board have gained a more empathetic position, became never Trumpers, or jumped on the Trump bandwagon. Most of the people here, even when I didn't always agree with them, at least had policy positions. These MAGA people just don't care one bit about policy and what it means to the country.

Oh I fully believe that Steinman probably doesn't like Trump, there's lots of republicans/conservatives that don't like Trump, but will still vote for him and all the regressive policies he and the rest of the party represent because it's better than a poor undeserving person getting healthcare.

On the one hand, :Leyla:.
On the other hand, in Africa a lot of conflicts - many of them being used/manipulated/encouraged by Russia - have "soldiers" of 10 and up. Why should we be surprised?

Trump called Zelensky a dictator.
Accusations... confessions...

In Trumpland, abiding by rule of law and following your constitution makes you a "dictator", while shitting all over your constitution and rule of law, calling half your citizens "vermin", betraying your allies, all while appeasing your #1 enemy, makes you the most respected leader in all of history!

Y'know, nowadays every time I see this thread, I feel like I was being overly optimistic when I named it the "2022" Russian invasion.

During the exchange Zelensky called Vance a Fucking Bitch. Suka blyat.
From what I understand, it's more an expression of frustration than a direct insult, like in English we'd say "son of a bitch" under our breath if we're pissed at someone/something. Though I wouldn't blame him at all if he did use it as a direct insult, because it's an accurate description.

All the russian dash-cam footage I used to watch seems to corroborate this. While it translates to "fucking bitch," they use it like we'd "what the fuck" or "holy shit."

All American aid - including material and medical supplies already en route and in Poland - has been "pauzed" indefinitely until Zelenskyy "agrees to a natural resources deal and is serious about talking about peace".

If there were any doubts anywhere about what side you guys were now on, this should make it very clear.

All of my Trump-loving coworkers who all - and I mean ALL - were very pro-Ukraine after the invasion, now think this is a great move.

I've been wondering for a while how that was going to shake out. A good number of the people I saw with pro-Ukraine flags, bumper stickers, etc. had an over-lap with the Fox News, pro-Trump crowd. But even when he wasn't in office, Trump was yapping that he was on the side of Russia. I didn't assume Trump would be elected again (oh, my naive self), but I figured the two sides were going to be at odds at some point, and what kind of mental gymnastics were going to be performed.
