Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

On October 18th, you could always just drive up to Canada while you're waiting for this to happen, which could be a while.

    Funny (political, religious) pictures

For everybody's benefit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_numerals and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Arabic_numerals The second of which are in many middle-eastern (and probably other) countries. I saw them in Egypt when I visited for instance.

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Somewhat similar to how many horrifically oppressive dictatorships are on the UN Human Rights Commission. Both are like "WTF???"

    The Tech Random Crap Thread

This was worth the read IMO: The Bullshit Web Basically about how the hell do we have 6x (or better) speeds these days, and it still takes 30s to load major websites? His answer is all the advertising and "not the content we want" on the pages bogging everything down. Not a perfect article...

That is NOT a happy kitty. Could be worse, but definitely "I'm pissed off about this" face.

If you need a static IP address, and assuming this is to a windows computer, why not just forward the ports for Remote Desktop Connection? Why do you need a 3rd-party provider?

See I'd find that interesting because that would be a precedent for Atheism to be treated like a religion. Which in some places means NO usage of public facilities for religious purposes. So that may backfire spectacularly.

    Games on SALE!

Or it was just straight-out more profitable. "We're selling 3x the number we were selling at twice the price! Let's keep that up!" It'd be stupid NOT to. **Glares at Nintendo Pricing** On that note actually, I'll bet I would have picked up a few of their games, probably exceeding the...

Whine like a baby, now with 500% more drama!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's as simple as "is either machine on a domain? Commercial use!" That's going to be greater than 99% correct for that at least one of the machines is business-owned.

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually a way to just "subtlety" force you out. Or are they just too incompetent for that sort of thing?

[Webcomic] The Order of the Stick thread

Not familiar with The Big O. Googling (safe search on, otherwise probably NSFW) revealed it to be an anime series, which the wiki page says is about memory loss in a city. The right one? If so, I can see why it's applicable.

[Webcomic] The Order of the Stick thread

Being a fan of the movie Dark City, the question there is "Are we more than the sum of our memories?" Rich Burlew obviously says "No" to that question. My opinion (and that movie... maybe) differs. (enough posts down to not spoiler anymore)

    Weird weather

Remind me to get a beer with you if I end up in Phoenix visiting our clients. Our primary client is there, so it's possible I'll be flown out at some point (likely even). And based upon your post, I hope it's in January!

Point of order, today is the 3rd launch of block 5: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falcon_9_Full_Thrust#Block_5 And from Wired: Above I also quoted the part about 7 flights necessary for human flight.

Umm, in many places, that's illegal. In Canada at least, you can take your car to anywhere, and it's still fine for warranty. It's on the dealer to PROVE that a repair shop fucked something up, rather than saying "it was TOUCHED somewhere else, we're free!" They certainly cultivate the...
