*sighs, turns over "DAYS SINCE LAST MASS SHOOTING IN AMERICA" sign to 0*

I'm already convinced that the assault weapons ban is a bad idea. Tying a weapon to a person's name is a very obvious way to supposedly only inconvenience criminals. If this raises issues with the police abusing power then obviously the police are a bigger problem than mass shootings and should...

Not necessarily. Obvious first steps are all weapons being registered to someone's name, requiring a weapons license or mandatory course, putting some other arbitrary limit than 'assault weapons' like # of weapons per person depending on your license. I understand that the last 2 come into...

You do realize you're falsely equating the consequences of outright prohibition with those of stricter control, don't you? There's a link missing in your logic

I don't know how relevant that is. I mean, does Chicago have borders?

It's 'the Rogue cut' just because there was a whole story thread about Rogue that didn't make into the theatrical version.

Exactly. That was painful to read, but it wasn't done for the advancement of another, actually important character.

    Let's play "Critique my resume"

I can look at it if you want, but of course won't be offended if you'd rather have someone else's opinion than mine :) Whomever you send it to, include a description of the position, it's important! (To judge de CV according to it)

    Scrivener?

I do use LaTeX and it's wonderful. Particularly for long documents (like the thesis I'm writing right now) or anything with many references. But its nice things are references, crossreferences, and formatting, no help at all with organizing ideas, restructuring etc. I do that on paper...

[Movies] The DC Cinematic Universe - The David Zazlav Dumpster Fire.

This is what I thought while and after watching the trailer for Batman vs Superman: This will not be a Superman movie, but it seems it could touch on interesting themes, and it could be a good superhero movie. The 'superhero = god' to the common people is an obvious theme, and while in the...

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

It was pretty much in line with the rest of Europe but on the high part. It actually climbed a lot with the crisis and the bailouts, but previously it was lower to that of, say, France (compared to GDP!)

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

I think it's more due to widespread corruption, tax evasion and 'creative' accounting than excessive public spending by itself. I mean, obviously there was too much spending, but I don't think it was extraordinarily high. Rather, the state's income has been extraordinarily low.

But that's really a technical distinction. How is torrenting something, watching/reading it and then erasing it worse than streaming? With streaming sites someone (who isn't the creator) is profiting of the ads, so even if you're not 'stealing' they are, and you are partaking, in a way. (I'm...

Where Do You Stand? (2016 Election)

Yeah, I pretty much agree that there are two axes to define all this. I find the word choice of liberal/conservative confusing, but that's vocabulary. But I thought libertarianism was an ideology that used BOTH axes. In the political compass graph ( http://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2012...
