    Coronavirus Thread

I know my wife has to blur out any kids' faces in any photos or videos she takes of her classroom, and it it to protect the students' whereabouts in cases where an abusive relative might be looking for them.

Started watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It's been long recommended to me by a friend. Fewer musical numbers than I expected. only other musical tv show I ever watched was Galavant, and I feel like that had more numbers. Take away the musical aspect, and it sits at the centre of a Venn diagram...

I had to sign up for it. If you live within 10km of the plant they give it to you by default, but the outer zones you have to sign up for it. We had a leak scare a few months back, when a province wide emergency alert was sent out by mistake when they were testing the system. My somewhat...

The Random Crap Thread 2: It Hits the Fan.

I live within 50km of a nuclear plant and so the government has provided me with potassium iodine pills to thwart thyroid cancer in the event of a radioiodine leak. It's basically Rad-X from Fallout.

So weird because "Gone with the Wind" came up in like 4 separate conversations yesterday and none of us knew.

Our neighbours have put more work into their yard in the last week than they have in the last two years combined, and I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not. I sincerely hope it's because they're trying to sell.

    Coronavirus Thread

My wife is a teacher and her union has been advised to get their last will and testaments in order before September. Schools are a cesspool of viruses and bacteria at the best of times. They should not be opening. maks, no masks, doesn't matter. They should not be opening in a pandemic. Full stop.

What are you listening to II: Electric Bogaloo

I mean, it is a little bit nuts. My first exposure to it was a local three piece called Buzz Deluxe who played a lot of the local punk shows I'd frequent in my teens. they were more straight rockabilly than psychobilly or punkabilly but somehow they fit in there with our scene's "shitcore" and...

What are you listening to II: Electric Bogaloo

Lately I've been getting more in to rockabilly/ punkabilly/ psychobilly/ skabilly. Just all them billies. Most notably, Canadian bands The Creepshow and the Raygun Cowboys

You're completely missing the point. The point is that white men in power have decided for themselves that systemic racism isn't real. The existence of such racism is not an opinion to b debated, and certainly is not something those who benefit from get to confirm or deny. As far as the...

Premiers couldn't ask agree that systemic racism and systemic discrimination exist in Canada. 13/14 of the first ministers are white. 13/14 are men. They don't think there's a systemic prejudice issue in Canada...

I was told to expect Scott Pilgrim Vs the World meets Nightmare on Elm Street/ Friday the 13th/ Scream... and that still really doesn't do justice to the wackiness of detention...

I just watched that the other day! I don't think we have billet logs in Ontario. Never heard of them before. Passion Flakies and Ah, Caramel are THE BEST though (but Ah Caramel used to have more caramel than it does now, and that was better).

[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

Birds of Prey I had heard it was surprisingly good, so I thought I'd give it a go. "Surprisingly not terrible" would be more accurate. It was worth the $2.50 I spent to rent it. I think, mostly, I just can't get on board with the art direction of these DC films. It's got the cheese of Tim...

[Movies] Talk about the last movie you saw 2: Electric Threadaloo

Wife and I finally watched Parasite, and Holy hell it was good. Not at all what I expected (knew nothing about the plot going in- just the theme), but it was funny, shocking, AND depressing, sometimes all at once. Friend of mine compared it to Get Out in tone, in the way the laughter gets...

I've only seen the first episode. But based entirely on that, the series is just a sci Fi spaghetti western. And that means it's the best Star Wars related video content released in 36 years.

Picked Orphan Black back up after not watching it for like two years. Still periodically forget that Tatiana Maslany isn't actually 5 different people.
