A Thread For Bold Claims

Bored to Death, Louie, Eastbound & Down, Treme, Rubicon, and Californication aren't watched by enough people.
Bored to Death, never heard of it.
Louie, I see the ads, but I thought it had not premiered yet.
Eastbound & Down? That is a Jerry Reed Song.
Treme, I saw something about it on an actor's Wikipedia page. Don't know the channel.
Rubicon, see Louie.
Californication, I don't pay for premium cable.

Haven't heard of most of these. Rubicon sounds like yet another Numbers/Bones/Mentalist type show, oh and Californication is the one with that x-files dude, right? The only ad they keep showing is where he screws around a lot. I guess that's the premise of the show? They're really selling it!
Rubicon is nothing like any of those shows. It's a moody spy thriller.

Californication is a black comedy about a sex addict writer anti-hero type and his family. Starring as you said David Duchovny.

While I'm at it-

Bored to Death stars Jason Schwartzmann, Zach Galifianakis, and Ted Danson. Schwartzmann is a writer who reacts to a break-up by becoming an unlicensed PI. Danson is a rich socialite stoner friend of his, and Galifianakis is his comic book artist best friend.

Eastbound & Down stars Kenny McBride as a white trash ex MLB pitcher trying to get back on top through any horrible means necessary. An episode climaxes with him throwing a ball at Craig Robinson's head and hitting him so hard that his eye flies out.

Louie is written by, directed by, and stars stand-up comedian Louis C.K. It is fucking hilarious and so far, FX has let him do whatever the fuck he wants. It is not very linear or plot-based, and just loosely connected comedy skits about his life.

Treme is made by David Simon, creator of The Wire. It is set several months after Katrina and is about people putting their lives together in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Get them off the pay stations? so more people will watch?
If they weren't made by cable channels they wouldn't have the same freedom and budget to keep up the quality (especially the freedom). If they were web-only, not enough people would hear about them and the viewers would disappear.

That is pretty much my point. Have the premium channel, lose audience... But you can't do the quality anywhere else. AMC is doing pretty well, but who expects to watch AMC for anything other than B&W movies.

I always check my guide when I see color on that channel...

Since when does AMC shown black and white movies on a regular basis? It's been ages since that's been the case and since then TMC has done a superb job of picking up the slack.

haha, what? AMC airs Catwoman for crissakes. It's a much different channel now.

TCM(Turner Classic Movies) has no commercials and shows old movies on a regular basis. I admittedly have no clue what regularly shows on TMC (The Movie Channel).

Is californication somehow related to the movie of the same name also with Duchovny from circa 1996? I guess I could just google it.

I just ordered General Tso's chicken AND an order of Salt and Pepper Shrimp. I WILL EAT ALL OF IT! For today, I HUNGER!
Shouldn't this be in more of an Epic Win thread.... at least that's the way I look at it. My personal would be Hot & Spicy Chicken and some PF Chang's Combination Fried Rice. Oh nom nom nom nom nom...

It's a bold claim because I really have my doubts I will be able to eat both of them but dammit, those dishes will know they were in a battle when I'm done with them. Also, I might be dead.

the Penny Arcade comic is not really that funny.
See I used to think this, until I started reading with less of a this must be funny mindset and more of a political style cartoon/comic. I found it much more enjoyable that way. It gets me laughing alot more than some other webcomics these days.

Rescue Me is one of the most realistic shows on TV.

when it comes to the relationships between guys in that sort of job (and even the rivalry between cops and firefighters). Everything else, not so much.

The rivalry between cops and firefighters is funny, because its one of those things everyone kinda thinks probably exists, but you're somewhat surprised to learn it actually does.
My dad really dislikes Toronto cops.
