Hey, folks.
Sorry to have to do it, but I'm going to need to drop out of the game.
Unfortunately things are just getting super complicated around here and I don't have the time every week.
Trust me I wish I could still play, but I need to free up the day.
I'll let you guys know if anything changes.

Um... noooooooo. I said a few pages back, we're good for next week (13th.) It's the week after that, the 20th, that we're not available.
Oh yeah, whoops, I forgot what week it was.

Helga should see her huband's writhing testicles for leaving her and faking his own death.
To be fair, I DID see that one of the times. Even wen Jay had us list the items we most wanted I put a magical weapon as my third priority. :)

Aw man.

Sorry to hear that, Shawn. :/ That really sucks. Obviously, I understand, and I'm sure everyone else does too.

Can you give the gold you stole back to everyone first though? :p

We should divide his gold and EXP. lol jkjkjk sorry to hear that Shawn. I really hope things get better for you.

Ah, the Rod of Folly... one day soon... you'll be my greatessst creaaaatiioooon!

You don't like your Goblin gem? I'm sure there's some wound-stitch powder available...

Oh and far as the 6th player goes, I think I'll hang on with 5 players. I want my players to be a bit more evolved and turns process faster.

We typically have six. It's not the general traditional number of party members, but it's been the way we've played since the start of Shawn's game. He's just telling us we won't be doing that, at least for now.

Though I think it'd be funny if, on a Thursday Shawn had a chance, his character just popped in again, no explanation or anything, and vanished again, kind of like he's been doing. We'd always think it was someone different or wonder if it was him, or see a similar persona reappear, but never know.

On a side note, Jay, thanks for having multiple characters' personal lives be crucial to moving along with the story. There's a level of "if it gets too bad, we can always leave" sometimes in dungeons, but here there are characters who will go on, or will go to Good Mead, because they have personal stakes in what's happening. That's really cool and I appreciate it.

I agree. It is cool that there is personal stake, not just monetary gain, involved.

Side-quests are important to me and will get more.... intriguing as the quests goes on. Oh, and I got quite a few "Narrator Speeches" ready depending on what happened. It excites me.

I hope you like my summary, even if it might not be up to par with the one "written" by Doom and not me. lol:

In response to the Falagar's foolish greed, As soon as the adventurers returned to the Wraiths' lair, they were attacked by the three Wraiths and a squad of skeletons. Early on, the Wraiths proved to be difficult enemies with a few tricks up their sleeves: intangibility and invisibility. The skeletons, however, seemed more straightforward. Sylvaria's abilities seemed extremely effective against both the Wraiths and the skeletons, as did a couple of Rathkor's spells, when he was actually able to hit him and not his own teammates. Falagar found himself cowering in the corner, surrounded by the enemy. Bloby, in a much braver attempt than his master, attacked the skeleton from within it's own skull. In an attempt to rescue the cowering Wizard, Rathkor attempted one of his famous Blazing Starfalls, which missed all of the enemies, and hit Falagar, knocking him out. Tydin also goes down, after sustaining a very powerful blow. Sylvaria, tired of the tricks of the Wraiths and and the skeletons, releases a powerful attack which finishes off the last of the unholy creatures.

The party returns upstairs and continues down the opposite hallway at the fork, following a trail of blood. They pass a large double doorway. After reaching a dead end down a very dusty hallway, the Louts spot a specter. Decided it safer not to investigate, and led by Tyrdin who was in a hurry to rescue his ill-fated mother, they decide to turn back and go through the door. Beyond the door was a long staircase, leading deep into the earth.

At the bottom of the stairs was a large room filled with various sarcophagi and statues that lined the walls, holding flames to light the room. While the Louts were investigating, a gust of wind blew out all of the lights, save for the group's Floating Lantern. Tyrdin began to freak out, and screamed into the darkness. Using his powers, he grabbed Falagar and began using him as a human shield. Falagar struggled, managing to break Tyrdin's grip. As he landed on the ground, the floor he landed on sank into the ground with a scraping sound. Suddenly, darts fired from within the darkness and hit Falagar, who cried out in pain. He doubled over in pain. Rathkor realized the pain Falagar was expressing was disproportionate to the pain the darts should have caused, and realized the darts must be poisoned. He pulled out a Gravespawn potion he found earlier and downed the bottle.

What horrors lurk within the darkness? Why is Tyrdin so terrified? Will the Louts survive this unseen force? Find out next time.

And I forgot to mention, all te gold Falagar stole that led to the massive battle at the beginning: fake.

R

And is Tyrdin's bonus he got from that dream, is it temporary or Permanent? just curious.

Nice summary though you forgot the voice coming from all the statues and bolts being shot at the group from the darkness.

And yes, when I mean for the day, basically until next extended rest.

R

rathkor

Eh, I think I did pretty good, for doing this before the recordings for once. lol

Careful Jay, Jaisahn once went 3 days without an extended rest...

Trust me, after a few combats these guys will need one as well. Their first day required them to sleep in the house of the mad. Second day they'll likely sleep in the tomb of the damned.

Don't worry, the first day they were forced to sleep in the house of the mad. The second day they'll very likely sleep (and never wake up) in the house of the damned.

R

rathkor

Actually, first it was in the Inn where we got robbed. then the mad, and who knows where next. I have a Tent and a bedroll, so I can sleep just about anywhere. lol

Goddamn, I so want to read these side story adventurers with the music prepared.... I think may never get tired of being a DM... this is so damn fun.

Random: I have no reason to suspect that I'll be joining any new DnD games, either on HF or in real life, in the near future.

That said, I have my next two characters lined up and ready to go. One of them's even a Leader!

R

rathkor

As said, I do have one backup prepared. might make another. Chracter creation is as fun to me as the actual games, if not more so. lol

Damn, I didn't consider making a backup character until something bad happened, but now that you guys are saying it, perhaps it'd be wise to think about it in advance so I don't have to hurriedly roll one up in a week and end up disliking it.

It's not so much that I'm making contingency characters, as I just have a lot of ideas for characters that I hope to play someday. The Leader that I'm kind of eager to try out? Would have NO reason to be in Icewind Dale.
Added at: 18:16
Plus it's a character that I invented back in 2005 for another person who didn't end up joining our group, so I shelved the idea. I just recently updated it for 4th edition.

So the idea has some thought behind it. ;)

Backup characters are always nice. A couple of close calls so far.... from the easier encounters.... how will you guys survive when you'll meet the cause of all this evil in Dougan's Hole?

The Company of Louts shall start their next session deep within the mausoleum, their light sources taken away by some sinister action as they entered the sarcophagi room except for those who can resort to the aid of a magical item. A gift of no small measure was given to you for your troubles earlier in the day proves invaluable at this point and time, the floating lantern, albeit still affected by whatever caused this darkness, provides you limited vision within this wicked room.

The room, as Falagar already knows, seemed to be booby trapped and something from the darkness seems intent to kill this group of adventurers. What horrors await the Company of Louts?

Who exactly was that voice? Is he the follower of Cyric that you’ve been looking for? And is he the source of the town’s woes?
Does Tyrdin’s mother still breathe? How exactly is all this tied with the bandits?

Will they see the light of day again?

Find out, this Thursday night, at 6:45PM Eastern. Don't be late!

R

rathkor

Rathkor's not afraid of your traps, for he has been fortified againt its poison.

also, esc, I was wondering if you'd be able to get that last recording up before you get real busy next week. if not, thats cool, but if you can, that would be great.

R

rathkor

Also, are we moving the game night after this? cuz i now have a class on Thursdays untill 6:15, 7:15 for a lot of you. and by the time i got home, it would most likely be around 7:45. Can we shich it to any other day?

Well shit; Julie and I kind of situated our week's schedules to be for Thursdays when we can. For a few weeks, any other night's going to be infeasible due to her doctor appointments.

On other notes, here's a "wood cutting" of Falagar having "defeated" the cyclops.

And dammit, I had too much fun coming up with a contingency character :/.

Talberd "Wexy" Wexicerus, Tiefling Artificer. Dammit.
