[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

Previously the RoRG would only drop in Act I. This meant that bounty farming was a zoo of people would would join your game just to farm Act I (regardless of whether it was actually the bonus act!) and then immediately drop out. Blizzard changed things so that now the RoRG drops in whichever act is currently the bonus act, which now encourages people to a) do all of them b) in bonus order.

Yeah, but that was fine for me playing solo in the console ;) I can do every act now and never see the RoRG, most of the time it ends up being that stupid paladin shield or that horrible helm. Talk about two useless items.

Maybe they just need to tweek the items that drop as 'rewards' because honestly spending an hour to get each of the crafting materials is really dull.

Since this thread is pretty much my main D3 info source: does, or doesn't, IAS help me cast GotD and/or haunt more often? In my current build, those two are my only damage dealers (I'm effectively back to "only using my mouse" now, I get lazy...And I can't think of anything else I need ATM). Lots of contradictory information out there about it influencing tick speed, just the casting animation, or actual casting speed,.... (GOTD with "no cooldown", of course)

This is usually why people who are farming crafting mats do multiplayer. 5 quests/act with 4 people means everyone goes and does their own solo bounty, then all 4 gang up on the boss, then all done collect reward move to the next act. Most of the time they don't even gang up on the boss, they just start in on the next act(s) to get bounties out of the way ahead of time.

Many (most?) "spenders" are limited by cooldown time, not attack speed. I would guess* that any skill which shows a cooldown animation (the anticlockwise timer overlay thing) will be affected more by CDR than by IAS, but that'd just be because it's a much larger slice of the time. I am basing this assumption on channeled skills such as the Monk's Tempest Rush, which has two stages - activation and channeling. You will notice that you are unable to activate the skill twice in rapid succession because there is a cooldown, just a very short one. Spender skills like the Crusader's Sweep Attack don't have a cooldown, so they scale directly with IAS.

So to answer your question directly, IAS will not speed up GotD (except perhaps a negligible amount due to speeding up the casting animation) because you're going to be limited by the cooldown. I believe however it will let you haunt a larger number of enemies in the same amount of time, it just won't increase the amount of damage being done to them over time.

*Never thought about this before, at work so can't test, therefore this is just a guess on my part.

Spenders would be limited by their cool down timer and any related decreases to that. Attacks or primary skills such as darts or toads would be impacted by attack speed. Spenders without cool down timers could be cast as often as possible while you had the mana to do so.[DOUBLEPOST=1462738186,1462738121][/DOUBLEPOST]So to answer your question, yes to haunt. It's the basis for the popular support doc build. It's set up to get a ton of haunts out very quickly.

@Bubble181 is likely using that item that removes the cooldown from grasp of the dead, in which case yes, IAS will increase how often you can cast it, but just how often are you really needing to cast it when repeat castings don't really do anything?

Well, because my current playstyle is pretty much the Zuni dungeon, everywhere :p Haunt is nice and all, but in a large group of trash, GOTD lets me "tag" everyone as having been hit by a spender faster and my fetishes pretty much one-shot them all. 8+15 fetishes out.

Currently I'm using both Haunt (practically free) and GOTD (free) as "spenders". Haunt with the 2-piece of Jade's adds some nice high single-target damage for bosses and elites, but it's not really needed yet. Up to GRift 35 solo now and still under 7 minutes...Damage-wise it's still facerolling, but I'm hitting the point where incoming damage gets to me - especially early on when I don't have 15 fetish sycophants out yet. I might have to switch in Spirit Vessel.

Yeah, I get that, but here's the thing- I see this as a negative of the game. I honestly find forcing me to group to be against what I enjoy in the game, and while I enjoy playing local with my wife I don't want to play with some douche nozzles just because Blizzard made it a grind to play the game on my own. Yeah, that's nice that other people get their enjoyment out of the interaction with the other classes and grouping up with 3 other people. Don't know if you noticed, but I'm not exactly a people person. ;)

I feel as you do. I don't want to HAVE to pal up with someone else in order to succeed. It's one of the reasons I don't play as much Wizard101 any more. Unfortunately, the current wisdom in MMORPGs is that your product will fail and/or be less marketable if you don't have some sort of team bonding/herd mentality portion in it, which I enjoy about as much as I enjoy those corporate team-building exercises.

At least in D3 I can drop into a multiplayer rift or bounty game, get my loot, and get out. When I drop into a PUG, everyone knows what they're here for, everyone does their thing, nobody talks to anyone else, we all get our stuff, and then we go. I'm never rude, I'm supportive of my teammates, but we all know we're not there to socialize, we're there to farm. If you want to pal up, that's what Clans are for AND if you want to get to some of the higher (100+) GR levels, you pretty much have to team up, but if that's not for you, you can still play solo, it just takes longer.

I'm at work so I can't take a screenshot or link one right now, but right-click on the stash tab icon (bag/saddle bag/box/chest/whatever) and you'll get a menu to choose other art. F.e. dedicating one tab to all WD gear and making the icon a WD, or one to collect all set pieces, or what have you.

I always keep my stuff on the same pages, so it's never been a big deal for me. I might start using it now just so I can tell whether I'm in the first or second "worksheet*" of my stash, now that there are two.

*for you Excel users.

Found my first Rainbow Goblin since the patch dropped, but didn't get the rare monster who drops the wings. Ah well! I have found 3 Menagerist Goblins so far though!

AGRGHH got my first rainbow goblin this season, but he spawned along with a group of elite blood clan occultists. These are the guys who put up the short-lived flame shield that negates all incoming damage for about 10 seconds. Well, they kept putting the shield on him (and each other) and he got away practically unscathed SOO MAAAD.

Only pet I've found is the Mimic, but his legs bug out or something, tears up my screen like no tomorrow, so I'm sticking to last season's pet for now. Found a Rainbow Goblin but no wings yet. Oh well. And RNGesus hates me, but what else is new?

@PatrThom: do you have a source and/or are you really sure the RORG now drops from any bonus act? Just asking because I'm farming for it and haven't found it yet, confirmation either way might prove useful but I can't really find anything. :)

Actually...no, I'm not sure. I just got one (my first!) from an Act IV cache, but Act IV can drop items from any act (including the RoRG).
I can also say that I have definitely had 2xRoRG drop for me in Act I (but I believe it was on T10), so perhaps your best bet is to drop into multi PUGs doing bounties?

Ah well. Just clocked P200, No RORG, no unities - actually, I'm still using an Avarice Band I got really early on because, besides being (sadly) an Avarice Band, it's got near-perfect stats (477INT, 50%CHD, 7%IAS, 6%CHC), and still using my Hellfire amulet. This season, the right jewelry just isn't coming my way.
OTOH, I'm already at 4/7 of Champion...Not that I think I can make the 6 minute rift this month, solo.

I also almost mastered Zuni on my run-through to finish Chapter 4. I will revisit it when I HAVE to master a dungeon for my current step.
Also, there's nothing like being in a 4-person PUG and having someone discover a bandit shrine who's never seen one before and pop it before telling everyone.
...except possibly for finding a second one in the same game, and getting enough warning, and everyone getting over there in time.

I was wearing the double-gem helm, too. Sooo many jewels.

What you can't see due to my lousy cropping is that this was on a sort of jetty in the tower of the damned, so there was nowhere for any of them to run. Additionally, right about where the center of that blue circle is was the head of a demonic forge (the flamethrowing head things) that would blast right at the shrine. It helped us out during the actually goblin killing, but I died three times from it in the six trips back to town while picking up my stuff. I'd almost be willing to believe Blizz did that on purpose.

I found a goblin shrine last night and it was easy as pie to kill them all. I found it in a dead end and so they were all trapped. It was amazing. But the screen was filled with loot.

No more D3 for me until I get back from a long weekend in the Loire region in France on Tuesday :(

...well, okay, a little bit of :), but some :( too. Far too addicting game :p
