Any trailers of anything that doesn't suck come out yet? (other than SWTOR)
I have a radically different definition of suck than you do, so I have no idea. Here's a list of games I thought have been interesting that have been shown at E3. They might end up sucking, but I'm keeping an eye on them.

Portal 2
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Epic Mickey
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Red Faction: Armageddon
Wii Party
Little Big Planet 2
Super Scribblenauts
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Rayman Origins
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Mario Sports Mix
DC Universe Online

EDIT: forgot Puzzle Agent

I was actually surprised they announced the NEXT english Layton game, considering Unwound Future hasn't even shipped yet... and Spector's Flute is the next game in the series.

Okay, I've got to admit I find the X-Com trailer to be impressive. When I first heard of the game I thought it was going to be a bland FPS trying to cash-in on a classic name. Now it's clear they're doing a little more than that, but now I'm thinking it might end up being more of a Bioshock-clone, but the art style is promising and the enemies look creepy.

The 1950s look is cool, but are there any tactical elements at all like the old games?

Still dunno why they couldn't have made a squad-oriented tactical action game similar to Ghost Recon, but using X-COM as the setting.

How many different versions of the DS can Nintendo crank out before people get tired of it? Frankly they'll probably be still riding this same pony ten years from now... :p
Can't tell if this is meant to be sarcasm or not, but this isn't a new version of the DS, it's a whole new console.[/QUOTE]I stand corrected. I noticed that they had an analog stick, but didn't really look any closer than that.

Although in my defense if one didn't look at the specs how would one be expected to know that this is a new system? It is after all the same basic form factor, the only obvious changes being the aforementioned analog stick and the top screen being a little bigger.

Yeah I hope there is more tactical/squad/research/etc then the trailer lets on because while the theme of X-com is about Aliens and defending against them, it is not 'really' an X-com game just because they slap the label on it.

Well, that's what it get for not opening the damn pod-bay doors like I asked...

I have say that is a pretty sexy looking machine. I'm hoping the fact that it runs so quiet means it has a better DVD drive, because I've had as much if not more issues with the DVD drive than I have with the RRoD.

With E3 done with, it seems that Nintendo is the only showing that had real interest for me. Sure, I'll have to get Portal 2 on the PS3 because my PC can't handle it, and I'll probably end up getting the new PSP God of War even though Chains of Olympus hurt my eyes, and Dust looks cool.

But Nintendo rocked it for me. Epic Mickey looks wonderful, I'm always up for a new Zelda even though I'm still playing Spirit Tracks, that new Kirby is first one that's interested me since Kirby Super Star, and goddamn if Pokemon doesn't have me wanting it again. Even with my aggravation with Scribblenauts, they've actually made the new one enticing, with adjectives and--the big one--better controls! A d-pad option? You mean Max will actually do what I want? The only thing left to improve would be trying to put an actual story into it so there's more motive to not simply fuck around with the cool item creation.

That's so fucking stupid!

Bravo, Microsoft, you morons...

On an aside, Move and Kinect look dumb as shit. Over-priced, gimmicky peripherals not even necessary to play the games they're for. What are Sony and Microsoft hoping to accomplish? To out-do the Wii? True that the Wii's processing power is lacking and it's not exactly a great console for hardcore games. It's been a big hit across all waves because it's easy to play and inexpensive, like many of your mothers. I own a PS3. It does not need a rig of motion support. Yeah, it's nice that Sony shoe-horned that shit into the regular controller, and I will admit I've caught myself playing a PS2 game and turning the controller one-handed because I've gotten used to it on the Wii. But tacking it on like this is stupid. Better off to just face that Nintendo got there first by being different, and add this stuff into the next gen in 2012.

My sister is really excited about Kinect. She's really excited about Dance Central, because she's a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance? on TV, and also plays a lot of Rock Band. There's no way that game would work with any other type of controller. I don't know how many other people are going to think $150 is worth spending on one or two games that really take advantage of Kinect, but a lot of people have already spent that kind of money on Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers.

True, but those controllers ONLY work with Rockband/Guitar Hero, and the companies that make the games make profit off of each plastic guitar they sell. What's the 3rd Party's motivation to work around the Kinect, aside from maybe getting some cash from MS to make the game? They don't see any profit from Kinect sales and they are limiting the number of people who can play their game to the people who own one. It's not sound business sense to make games for this, unless you can make them cheaply enough to make up your costs in a few thousand units (which makes it shovelware).

Honestly... it seems like no one understands that the only reason the Wii's motion controls are a big hit is because they are standard kit for every Wii, meaning everyone who owns a Wii can use games that take advantage of them.

Although the Motion Plus has made that a little sticky. I wonder if the new Zelda is going to come with one, or if they'll start selling them individually. I've had four Wiimotes for as long as I've owned a Wii, so I don't need these coupled sets.

Which is why I think there may end up being be 1 or 2 games that are really worth playing on Kinect. (Just like Wii Fit is the only game I know of worth playing on the balance board). People who played Dance Central at E3 raved about how much fun it is and how well it works. The rest of what comes out may end up being shovelware, but it seems like Microsoft has worked to get solid launch titles.

or if they'll start selling them individually.
They already sell them separately. $20 MSRP, Amazon and Wal-Mart have them for $17.54.

The part of Kinect that most interests me is not the motion control, but the speech recognition. Depending on how versatile it is, I'm hoping that a lot of the next-gen systems end up with something like that. It would be of limited use for most games, but could be pretty awesome for a lot of non-game uses.

I will say that Microsoft is at least trying to innovate, while Sony seems more intent on copying and pasting. Which means Microsoft's will probably be more buggy, like the Wii, but maybe that's why it's a tacked-on peripheral. This way they can sort out the bugs, and next gen get something geared directly into the system with all the problems solved.

Coming up with names for the systems must be hard. Sony made it easy for themselves; I can't imagine what Microsoft and Nintendo's next systems will be called.

You're right. This is standard Microsoft procedure. Get the users to pay for a chance to beta test your product, and then release a more polished final version later, and hope they pay again.

And... so...

No one mentioned the trailer for the Warhammer 40,000 MMO? Had I not gone over a list of E3 2010 games, I wouldn't have known. What do I keep you people for?

I need a new computer. One that will run this. I also need new pants.

I must follow this 40k game now I heard they were making one but I did not look to see how far along they were. Also on a non game related topic Escushion they are making a 3d-animated 40k movie but only a meh teaser trailer is out and some concept sketches and I think one production vid.

I honestly don't have much hopes for anything 40k-related that centers on its story. Books, a movie, etc. I've gone through some of the stories, and even the really good ones feel like you're working in the mind of an adolescent boy. I think the creators ignore that one of the basic human coping mechanisms is hope, and you really don't see it in this universe, because it wants to be Buckets of Blood. It's not the game's fault--the story was developed to be a game, and it makes perfect sense for one. So I love the tabletop, I love the video games, and I'm excited about this MMO since the makers say it will be more action-oriented than games like WoW, but I don't think a movie is going to be very good outside of visuals.

Read Ciaphis Cain: HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! There are other books in the series, but that's omnibus of the first 3 and some of the short stories. Honestly, it's probably the most hopeful work in the entire Black Library and downright funny at times. It also shows that no matter how dark things get, the reason the Imperium of Man has lasted so long is because of people like Cain inspiring others to feats of greatness (even if he usually doesn't deserve the praise he gets). It's also why there are A LOT more books about the Imperial Guard than the Space Marines.

I have heard of Cain and it has been on my list of books to get around to. I'm just used to other stuff. Some of it is brilliant, like Dan Abnett and Ben Counter, though I feel still lacks an element of humanity (great stories though), but there is a lot of juvenile shit in the Black Library.

I will get off my ass and get the omnibus though. Borders is having a 46% off Father's Day sale with the coupon, so why not?

Yeah, don't order anything through the Games Workshop site unless your planning on buying more than 30 bucks of stuff. If you don't, you have to eat a 15 DOLLAR DELIVERY CHARGE for basic shipping. The Borders website also looks like it has pre-orders for Defender of the Imperium (the second Omnibus) and The Emperor's Finest , which is an all new story. I highly recommend the series.

Yep, didn't come with it. If you want a wifi adapter you need to buy their specific one for 80$ US, which is fucken retarded as it comes out to half the price of a new rig. Thus when my refurbished xbox will die (my 3rd btw) ibeyond it's warranty in december, i may decide to buy this new one altogether.
