Cross platform play between PS3 and PC for Portal 2? Cool, I might get to play with my cousin.
EDIT: Maybe no cross platform after all. Damn you console makers!

Well, my take from the big 3's pressers are as follows:

- Kinect and Move both look lame as hell with ridiculous price tags to boot.
- 3DS looks fucking sweet, but I'll hold my breath until a price is listed. The 3D/2D slider feature has sold me.
- I couldn't give two shits about 3D in general.
- Epic Mickey will hopefully be super rad.
- Portal 2 will hopefully be super rad.
- Little Big Planet 2 will hopefully be super rad.
- I want more games like MGS4 and less like Raiden's slashy adventure
- Zelda fans will play the same God damn game over and over and over and over again.
- Now that the new 360 model has all the same features as a PS3, I'll probably buy the new one. Built in wifi was a killer for me and them making it quiet as all get out doesn't hurt either. Though I may wait a bit and see how well they hold up.
- I don't think many people have actually played Kid Icarus, or at least have very rose coloured glasses on. It fucking sucked ass.
- I can't even imagine how much money Sony gave Valve to get Newell on stage.

I was excited too, until I read the specs on the resolution:
3.52 inch widescreen display / 800x240 resolution, which is used as 400x240 x2 during 3D mode.

While a full 480p resolution was a bit much to hope for, that's still pretty stinking low. It should have been 1280x360 / 640x360 at least. I'm really tired of jaggies in games.

Whoa, that is really low. That's a shame. Though all the first impressions throughout the internet are seemingly positive so far.

Well Nintendo tends to go for affordability at the expense of flashiness, so I guess it depends on pricepoint.

I wasn't really interested in the 3DS before but now I want one. I've only watched Nintendo's conference so far but there were a few things I was pretty impressed with and a few things just elicited a resounding meh.

-New Zelda Wii: I preferred Twilight Princess's graphic style much better. Hell, I liked Windwaker much better even. I dunno, but the world just looks sorta...blah. Link's animations looked crappy and unnatural also. Hopefully they're not final. Still it IS a Zelda game, so I'm sure it will have great gameplay like the series has always had.

-Metroid Other M: Graphics are very disappointing when compared to Retro's MP3. You could seriously pass that game off as an Xbox 360 game easy. I don't know what magic technical pixie dust they used to make a Wii game look that good, but Other M just doesn't hold a candle to it. And I thought it was supposed to be a sidescroller. Why are there so many first person parts being shown? I just don't think I'm going to enjoy this one as much as the prime series. It won't be as immersive.

-Epic Mickey: Happy here. This game looks fun.

-Goldeneye: The game looks like complete ass, what the hell?

-Kirby: Looks fun and interesting. Original art style a plus.

-DK Returns: So Retro has gone from the awesome Metroid Prime trilogy to... a new Donkey Kong Country sidescroller. :eek:hwell: I really feel like they're talent is being wasted here.

Ok, now for the 3DS. Man I want one of those. That new Kid Icarus game looks fun. Graphics were definitely kicked up a notch as well from the DSi, and as someone who wears actual glasses... I really really hate 3d glasses. But the best part

Nintendo has confirmed it. So excited!

Extra resolution isn't solely about flashiness, it plays a big role in functionality of games. A smaller resolution limits the types of games that will play well on the system. Other than that nitpick, you're right. Nintendo will cut whatever corners are necessary in order to reach the right price points, and that's a strategy that's worked especially well for them in the portable marketplace. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

I guess another negative about the 3DS is it's viewing angles. You have to look spot on. Though, this isn't generally an issue, it goes against the social gaming aspect they were pushing with the XL.

Ha ha ha.
Sometimes literally. I don't think I can justify buying OoT for a fourth or fifth time.
Yeah well, I've only bought it once since I still have my 64 and Oot cart and therefore have no need to buy it's various re-issues.
I don't understand why you would by the same game 4 times.

But this is different. The graphics are completely redone, and well.. it's in 3d. Worth a re-purchase IMO.

I don't care who you are and who you thought you knew you were, Nintendo has won E3.

Zelda's poor demo can be chalked up to technical difficulties, which is unfortunate (Epic Mickey demo had some issues as well), but everything else is gold. So many interesting games.

Kirby's aesthetic is AMAZING.

I haven't seen it confirmed yet. Do you have a source? All I can find says the images are from Nintendo, but it's not an announced title.

Wow, that is amazing. Like a video game crossed with some awesome arts and crafts.

:aaahhh: new Donkey Kong Country, hell yes! :aaahhh:

Please tell me Dave Wise is doing the soundtrack.

Other than the new SWTOR trailer, the rest seems bland.

Remember back in the day, E3 used to blow your mind with the awesome stuff coming in the next 1-2 years being announced? Last two or three years its been so...lack luster.

Eh, it wasn't hard to top Microsoft's terrible bullshit showing but Sony put up just as much shit I want to play as Nintendo did. Kirby looks pretty, but it's still going to be a Kirby game, baby easy and over in 3 hours. I think LBP2's potential for amazing shit tops pretty much everything I've seen. I'm really stoked for it.

I'm not sure how a cinematic blows your mind away more than actually showing games, but different strokes. I look forward to the game, but some cinematic isn't going to make me call it the best of anything.

The more I see of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the more I like it. The art style is really cool, and does capture an impressionist feel to my untrained eyes. I'm definitely going to have to pick up a Wii Motion Plus so that I can play this one.

I am really excited about the new Zelda game. But I must say I wish I could have my classic controls back instead of the motion controls but none the less I will be picking the game up the day it comes out. (even if that means I haev to go and buy a Wii Motion Plus to play it)

I was going to buy the new Zelda before I even heard anything about it. Zelda games are fun, and I enjoy having fun.

No HL2:Episode 3.

:(
What was Valve's surprise announcement then?

---------- Post added at 12:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 PM ----------

Doh! Nevermind, it was probably the announcement of Portal 2 on the PS3. They canceled their own Portal 2 event to not steal Sony's thunder. Bleh.

Well, my take from the big 3's pressers are as follows:

- Kinect and Move both look lame as hell with ridiculous price tags to boot.
They never gave the price for Kinect, not at the press conference-thing anyway. The $150 is still a rumor, although it's probably not that far off. Considering that, IIRC, Kinect supports up to 4 players even at $150 it's a lot cheaper than Move when you factor in buying all those extra vibra... er, wands.

Kinect's tech still impresses me much more than the Wii-mote or Move. It has a lot more potential going forward, even if now we're stuck with the obvious sports/mini-games for now.

- 3DS looks fucking sweet, but I'll hold my breath until a price is listed. The 3D/2D slider feature has sold me.
How many different versions of the DS can Nintendo crank out before people get tired of it? Frankly they'll probably be still riding this same pony ten years from now... :p

- I couldn't give two shits about 3D in general.
Same here, maybe in another 3-4 years when I need to replace my current TV. Maybe.

- Zelda fans will play the same God damn game over and over and over and over again.
I would say that this applies to Nintendo fans in general, but then I'd be dismissed as a bitter, old coot. Which may well be a fair assessment, to be honest.

- Now that the new 360 model has all the same features as a PS3, I'll probably buy the new one. Built in wifi was a killer for me and them making it quiet as all get out doesn't hurt either. Though I may wait a bit and see how well they hold up.
Meh, if you like it, get it. Just get an extended warranty and you'll be fine. When they say it runs quieter I'm hoping that means they have an improved DVD drive, 'cause that 12X DVD drive is the noisiest part on my current 360.

- I can't even imagine how much money Sony gave Valve to get Newell on stage.
Hell, how much did they pay him to work on the PS3, period?

Wow, I was worried it wouldn't be able to emulate the frantic, crazy nature of the originals, but I wrong. So... so... wrong.

Deadpool FTW. BANG BANG BANG!

Can't tell if this is meant to be sarcasm or not, but this isn't a new version of the DS, it's a whole new console.

Have you seen the specs? The tech jump from DS/DSi to 3DS is like the jump from Playstation to Playstation 2. (A PS3? How many different versions of the PS will Sony crank out before people get tired of it?) This isn't just a DS with a 3D screen, this is a new handheld with significantly more processing power. Definitely on par with a Gamecube, and it's rumored some developers said it trumps the Wii.
