[Gaming] Elder Scrolls 5 - Dawnguard is HERE!

I really would like it though if you had a fame meter like in Fable. Where the more quest you do the more famous/infamous you become and you will be recognized on the streets.I know some Quests open new Dialoge from Guards, but I really would love some admiration and followers.
I believe it did in Morrowind. Infamy and Fame were tracked desperately and effected different people differently. Some shops would sell you stuff for less, some would charge you more, and you needed some fame to unlock some quests.

Yeah, that was one of my complaints about the Mage's College questline. Zero recognition anywhere outside of the college.
I think that actually makes sense. The locals REALLY don't like the Mages at the College, so they do their best to avoid them. What would they care if you saved Skyrim from a magical doom? They'd be more angry that the College almost got them all killed again.

Though it would also make sense if the Jarl's wizards were a bit more friendly to you after it.

I refused to play my Witch when I confirmed that the highest level illusion spells did not have "Charm/Command". She was dropped instantly in favor of my Orc.

I used to feel sorry for all those guards that took an arrow to the knee, until I heard about the guard who was eaten by a dragon, a week before retirement.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I fast traveled to Hillgrund's Tomb because it was near where a bounty giant was. I'd already done the quest for the guy trying to get a necromancer out of the tomb where his family lived.

As I was going down the steps from the hill, I saw a Drugar coming. He wasn't marked as an enemy, and he didn't fight me until I rushed up into his face. After killing him, three more Drugar walked past me, completely passive. They went all the way up the steps, into the tomb. I followed them, and they clustered in a corner, staring at the wall.

No idea what the hell was going on.

Bug, or BLAIR WITCH?

You decide.

I finally found a quest where I had a choice. I could either deliver someone's smuggled goods or rat him out to the person he was trying to hide it from.

More quests should have had such a choice.

You know which quest with one of those choices bothered me the most. You couldn't just tell What'sherface in Riverwood that both guys wanted to give her a fake letter from the other dude. It was rat out one or deliver the letter.

You can rat out both, I thought. I don't remember. Maybe I'll have my Khajit go back and do that quest, and then pick their pockets and take all their valuables.

In fact, forget the quest.

No... you could only do one or the other, because I was going to try and rat out both as honorless curs, then steal the wench for myself.

Because that's how Dovahkiin rolls.

Yeah a LOT of quests are extremely linear. Sometimes, without even a reward.

Thank god this game doesn't limit the options you can have for quests though cause right now my Quest book has over 100 quests and all these Nord names are starting to sound the same.

Well, I finished the main quest and hit level 40. Debating whether to soldier on and go to all those places I haven't been yet on the map or start over with a new character while I still have interest, because knowing myself, it's very unlikely for me to play through again anytime soon unless I have a reason to--i.e. unfinished content I can do with a new character, which is why I never did the mage college or thieves guild.

Lydia... Noooooo... I let her die and I did even realise it... *sniff*

I was coming down from the talk with the greybeards, and I took a shortcut down the mountain to get the Nettlebane... Woah, what a fight, this witch or whatever thing that was, attacking with those huge ass fireballs... Yeah, I fought it, with my bow, and suddenly, Lydia, who didn't come down the mountain straigth, joined the fight... And eventually got killed (I didn't realise it then - I thought she was immortal, having survived a giants attack and all that before...). Yeah, she was gone, but I thought she'd run off to dragonreach or something like that...

But no... I cannot find her anymore... *sniff* Any way I can make her come back? (Without those arcane dark magics of "the console") I mean, in game?

I returned to the place where she supposedly died, but a few days (game time) later - no trace of her... The spriggan and the witch-bitch and a body of a bandit are still lying there, but no trace of Lydia...

Do you own a house? Go there and see if she's around. In most cases she can't die unless you did something to kill her - like accidentally hitting her with a spell or arrow when she's really wounded.

I always blow her and my targets off the edge of the world to watch them splat on the red, red rocks below...

I haven't bought a house yet, no. But she wasn't at the table in dragonsreach. And I looked thouroughly at the place where I lost her.

Oh noes, it could be that I've accidentaly killed her! To down the fireball throwing bitch-witch, I hid behind a tree trunk, lept forward, shot an arrow, hid again, lept forward etc. until the witch was dead and I could get the nettlebane... It could be, yes, that a stray arrow of mine has hit Lydia, leading to her death at my unknowing hands! Oh my... How could I ever forgive myself? What have I done? (nope, I don't want to reload a save, I gained a few levels in the meantime, hehe)

But when Lydia truly died there, shouldn't her body stay there? Not knowing whether she's really dead or not - how can I get closure? The guilt will haunt me forever... :(

Are you the Thane of Whiterun yet? Are you allowed to buy a house? If so, a small cheat can allow you to check if she's alive.

~
player.additem f 5000

Buy the house. When you go in if she's alive she'll be there. Otherwise you can just type in player.placeatme a2c94 1

That will spawn a Lydia.

Lydia can die from an attack from an NPC, I've seen it happen several times. Sure, you can end her existance well enough but I've definitely seen her get destroyed by NPC attacks.

I roll with Iona right now (Housecarl of Riften) since she spawned far later than Lydia her stats make her an incredible force in battle. She's been pretty fun.

A few observations out of recent play :

- I wish followers would auto level with you.
- Leveling magic once you're LVL 55 is bullshit since NPCs have healthpools that are ridiculous, for example, I started the Mage quest, find myself in the "start area tomb" and a bit in, all by myself, I have to go 3 on 1 vers Duagar Deathlords while in newbie clothes with Lesser Ward and Flames. :) Thank God for Ice Form shouts....
- I truly wish NPCs didn't autolevel with you, it doesn't make sense do find Deathlords everywhere as well as Bandits who aren't exactly in Deadric armor but certainly feel they are while wearing shit Iron. If they spawn with Ebony bows or weapons, holy shit. (I play on Adept, any higher and it's just retarded)
- 81 Alchemy now, I got hundreds of pots everywhere and I'm farming the entire planet, I refuse to pay for skill ups. Ridiculous, I'm a master smith since LVL 15.
- They have GOT to fix magic resistance, I'm getting 2 shotted by Novice Fire Mages and I'm a Breton wearing Magic Resist Armor.

All in all loving the game, despite these observations and waiting on the patch.

I find that the only skill worth paying for training in is Restoration, because of how slowly it levels. Thankfully the Master Restoration trainer is easy to find, even if you need to do a quest before she'll train you.

Yet they still say stuff like "You seem like you like magic, you should visit the Mage's college".
That guy in whiterun keeps telling me being a mercenary might suit me. YA THINK?

open the console.
type:
a2c94.moveto player
close the console.

Now you know if lydia is alive or dead. And, if she's dead, you can resurrect her.

Also, for everyone else irritated at Lydia dying so easily, the console command:
setessential a2c8e 1

Will make it so she can't be killed (flags her as essential to the plot, like various quest npcs - she will still get "knocked down" to crawling if her HP is depleted). Word of warning, I wouldn't go UNFLAGGING npcs that ARE flagged essential unless you like broken games and restoring from early saves.

At some point I intend to unflag everybody, but not until I am as done as I want to be with a character, then... I will be the only person left in Skyrim!

Try using the MAGE stone while leveling skills. Also find ways to hurt yourself (leaping off small cliffs etc) and cast your heals then.
