Esc's 4e Game, GAME ON
I'll be playing the razorclaw shifter druid Bryn Rovar, if that works for the group. Also, Esc let me know if those magic items work for you, if not, I'll gladly swap them out.
Bryn Rovar
*Not an exact likeness, should have that done a bit later as well as a bit more insight into his personality.
Some backstory perhaps?
Bryn was found as an infant by a group of nomadic elves who took him in and raised him as their own. While none of the elves were particularly cruel to Bryn, he had always felt out of place with them. Though grateful for their hospitality over these many years, he began to feel an intense wanderlust, as the area covered by the elves was paltry compared to what lie beyond in the vast, untamed wilderness.
Whilst the elves were bartering with a band of merchants, Bryn overheard them describing a magnificent kingdom to which they were headed. Upon learning that there was more to this world than the forests and hills that he had known all his life, Bryn immediately began gathering his belongings as discreetly as possible.
When the merchants left that night on their way toward Remica, Bryn lie quietly on the undercarriage of one of the wagons, dreaming of the great cities and adventures that he would partake in the years to come, though they would often turn into horrid nightmares of things much more disturbing, cities seemingly made of insects and on occasion himself, swathed from head to toe, enveloped in an insect sheath. Weeks passed like this as they travelled and all the while Bryn remained hidden, venturing out only at night to forage and stretch.
Unbeknownst to Bryn, as well as the rather simple merchants whom he journeyed with, the wagon to which he had made himself a passenger held something that was a great deal stranger than their normal mundane goods. Wrapped in a strange, sweet-smelling cloth lie a small wooden box that the traders had picked up with a multitude of other items in an estate sale.
Just outside of the borders of Remica the caravan was besieged by a group of bandits who had set up several swinging log traps, one of which struck the wagon carrying both Bryn and the box. Bryn was violently thrown from the wreck and landed just off the main road as the box was smashed into tiny splinters, releasing a torrent of ravenous insects that engulfed bandits and merchants alike.
Groggily Bryn came to just as the swarm darted for him. He raised his arms in front of him in a vain effort to shield himself from the mass. Almost in the same instant he could feel the weight of the horde hit him and then...nothing. He expected to be torn asunder by the thousands of pincers, stingers and pedipalps and yet when he opened his eyes the swarm was gone. He couldn't explain it but revelled in his luck.
One of the bandits had managed to avoid the swarms wrath and saw Bryn splayed out on the ground. The bandit pounced, launching himself recklessly at him. At the sound of the commotion, Bryn spun around just in time to avoid a fatal blow, catching the bandits blade across his right hand instead, severing the thumb at the knuckle. As it fell to the ground it metamorphosed into a small swarm of the same insects that erupted from the box. Both the bandit and Bryn looked down at the pile of insects that writhed on the ground where the bit of thumb fell and then the bandit fled. Bryn threw out his arm and a sea of insects flew from the tips of his claws as his own body became the swarm and fell upon the bandit.
Both shocked, horrified and bewildered at what had just happened, Bryn continued on towards Remica with his newly-acquired powers.
