This is something I don't like about the game: it's entirely possible to find suits of X-01 (sans a few parts) just... sitting out in the wild. You know, that experimental power armor prototype the Enclave based their stuff on. Just... lying out in the Commonwealth.I found another set. But it was missing a leg and arm. So I cheated and consoled those parts in.

Except every companion generally acts like this:The companion stuff is much better than the other games. Some of their stuff feels more akin to Mass Effect, in a good way. I'm hoping each has an interesting quest like Curie.
But I'm with people on the RP. Also trying to do an evil character and that pretty much comes down to either killing people or not. BUT at least most NPCs are killable. It feels like in the last couple Bethesda games, more and more NPCs who were quest-related were invincible. Not as much here, thanks to the conflicting end game factions; I've killed a lot of people.
I didn't know Fallout New Vegas companions had side quests. I was also comparing it to Skyrim, where companions are disposable meat sacks.Except every companion generally acts like this:
25% Affection: You learn everything you really need to know about them.
50% Affection: You get a simple quest.
75% Affection: You get a slightly more complex quest.
100% Affection: Let's bone.
It's just... too predictable. The problem with reducing all quests to "Go to place and kill people" is that it quickly loses it's appeal. Compare that to New Vegas...
- You drag an aging ghoul around until he meets enough old guys still in the fight to let go of his own guilt regarding his sister.
- You help a shell-shocked veteran of a massacre accept what happened and learn to move on.
- You help an Elderly Nightkin grandmother decide if it's more important to stay sane or to hang onto the memories of her dead family.
- You drag the Remnants of the Enclave out of retirement to ether help save the people who sent them into hiding or to destroy them.
- Many more
ALL of these quests were more interesting than ANYTHING I've done in Fallout 4 (EXCEPT for maybe Nick and Curie's quests).
That's because New Vegas doesn't say "Booth liked that" whenever you do something that fucks with the Legion or when you learn more about what happened at Bitter Springs. You're just supposed to know he does because he told you so when you talked to him. The transition to these sort of things is much more natural because it's all related to the character's issue and they let you know when they are ready to talk more. It's also usually clear what you need to do in order to get them to open up more. You want to help Cassidy find out what happened to her caravans? Go to their wreckage. Want Arcade to open up about his family? Show him how the people of the Mojave Wasteland are abusing technology. Want ED-E to talk about his creator? Learn about the Enclave and it's conspiracy.I didn't know Fallout New Vegas companions had side quests. I was also comparing it to Skyrim, where companions are disposable meat sacks.
I've really struggled to get into New Vegas. I've tried to so many times and I don't know why it doesn't pull me in.
I really wish Kent had been a companion though. He's literally the most likable character in the game.Had a lot of fun with the Silver Shroud quest last night. That was silly and enjoyable, even though it was largely just killing people again.
This is also my review. If you title it anything other than Fallout, it'd be a pretty good game.My verdict of Fallout 4:
It nailed everything I knew it would as a Bethesda game. Garbage story, bad writing, terrible RPG overall, still really fun to explore and play. All in all, fun game but a garbage, trash Fallout game.
What?
Wondered if Bethesda opening an office this close to you might be reason to ponder a career change. What?
Man up, Dave. When you see a skull, that's not a sign to run away. That's opportunity knocking.Earlier today I'm sneaking around (level 21) and I run into a couple radscorpions. One turns out to be legendary with a skull. So I run like a bitch. They give chase and I run up a small hill..and into a pair of Deathclaws...one of whom is a legendary with a skull. So I run a little back towards the radscorps and then ran sideways as they started to fight.
I don't know who won because I didn't stop running.
Yes, because it means you're ditching Diablo III. What did Diablo ever do to you, huh?Is it bad that I'm actually looking forward to a medical procedure next week so I will have some time to play after?
%^%$#! work.
I had to stop taking Dogmeat because he was determined to block me on every narrow walkway. Every time I'd try to move to avoid enemies, he'd be blocking the way.I've died a couple of times, mostly when I'm fighting something strong and something else jumps in to "help".
Oh, and I sent my damned dog away. Sneaking into a place, taking a sniping shot and then hiding until things blow over is the way to go...unless Bowser the Wonderdog runs in to attack. Way to aggro the whole fucking place, Lassie.[DOUBLEPOST=1450074897,1450074546][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh and by the way, the Prima guide for this game is crazy nuts helpful. Once you've won it and want to see or get everything, this gives you all locations, all quests, all weapons/armor and their mods, bobbleheads, books...everything. Fucking thing is over 500 pages.
750+ paragon levels in one season is what Diablo 3 did to me lolYes, because it means you're ditching Diablo III. What did Diablo ever do to you, huh?
You are the reason I'm trying to bring the concept of game theory to my work.750+ paragon levels in one season is what Diablo 3 did to me lol
A little. Game theory allows people to use the drive to gain achievements through routine tasks (grinding) in their daily work or schooling. It's an interesting psychological approach.Lol??
You've been gone so long that I'm not nearly as far behind you any more.750+ paragon levels in one season is what Diablo 3 did to me lol
It works for China, where games have to be changed because the developers worry their game isn't grind-y enough.A little. Game theory allows people to use the drive to gain achievements through routine tasks (grinding) in their daily work or schooling. It's an interesting psychological approach.
I can't not have him with me, beyond using the others to get their perks. Lone Wanderer isn't affected by him for some reason and the increased carry weight alone is worth it.I had to stop taking Dogmeat because he was determined to block me on every narrow walkway. Every time I'd try to move to avoid enemies, he'd be blocking the way.
