Unfortunately a large portion of the American public thinks that cameras steal your soul, and that clothing is what keeps that from happening. Thus, nude photos are proof that someone's soul has been stolen and they are now evil.
It's funny. Only someone very conservative would be bothered if she had a nude picture floating around the internet.. and they already hate her for other reasons. So this was what, a misogynistic attempt at shaming her just because?
Trying to get her to shut up and go away.

Yes, that's exactly what it is.
However, I think you're wrong about how conservative someone has to be to be bothered by this. I think there's a lot of people, even those who fall in the middle of the liberal <-> conservative spectrum, who still associate nude photographs with poor moral character. They're the same people who watch Game of Thrones, but think porn turns people into deviants. They're the ones who can't get by without a glass of wine in the evenings, but also think people who drink hard liquor are alcoholics.
They’re also the ones who tweet about how Apple/Google/Microsoft is an evil scourge dooming all of humanity “Sent from my iPhone” or “reply to: xbox_rulez@gmail.com”
