I'm tempted to get The Witcher 1 & 2. Never played them at all before. And they're only $1.64 and $3.24 (Canadian) respectively. Worth it?

Keep in mind that I find I don't have much patience for RPGs like I used to. Even though I've played a bit of Skyrim, it didn't really hold my interest for an extended period.
Witcher 1's... not the best time I had, to be honest. 2 might be worth a look, but I didn't even start it yet because of how "bleh" 1 left me, and I didn't even finish 1.

Now everyone's ga-ga over Witcher 3 and I kinda feel like maybe I should give 2 another shot.

I'm curious to play 3 once it's a reasonable price. But I'm not sure if I need to play the first two to properly get into the story.

You should give 2 another shot. Story was good in Witcher 1 but combat got so darn tedious having to change stances all the damn time. They solved that in 2, makes it way more enjoyable.

I only made it a few hours into Witcher 1 before I had to drop it, the whole game just felt so clunky.

Witcher 2 was good, what I played anyway, but it was on a mediocre laptop and I had framerate issues on the first boss so I never killed it.

I really liked the story, tone, setting, and combat in W1. Never actually got around to playing 2 so far. Installing 3 as we speak :p
Anyway, I don't think they're really comparable to Skyrim. It's never really caught me, either. Witcher has a stronger, more defined narrative and character (which some people hate. YMMV), allowing more story and more world building and less genericness thana lot of Skyrim.

I'd certainly say 1 is worth a play through. By all accounts, 2 is great too, except for the combat. You either think the Witcher games are great because of the story and world, or hate them because of the main character, the approach to nudity/sex, and the combat. Literally everyone I've spoken to or read about it, says geralt is more palatable i n3, the combat's better, and the way they handle sex etc is better .Frankly, I've so far only found 1 person who didn't like it...And he was apparently trolling.

Lego games are on a pretty big sale too, I'm probably going to pull the trigger on at least one of those games. Debating between Marvel Heroes and Beyond Gotham, as I heard both are a lot of fun.
I haven't played Beyond Gotham, but Marvel is fantastic. Best open world of the LEGO games I've played, by far.

I went ahead and snagged them both since the discount's pretty big right now, was like 14 bucks for the two. I was hoping they'd just bundle in the DLC but no big deal.

And that so much of it was redheaded made something in my brain go "This is a very carefully (but not subtly) constructed GasBandit trap" and it kept me from getting much enjoyment out of it.

Well, that and the other things everybody else is saying was a problem with Witcher 1.

Maybe when HFA2 is over I'll give 2 a try. And maybe I'll pick up 3 on a steam sale next year.

So far, 3 is really great. I mean, slow, and ponderous, and lots of reading and talking, but....that's what I like. If you go in expecting Call of Duty in Fantasy World, you'll be disappointed. Heh.

Bundle Stars has anAll Stars 2 Bundle right now and for the next 16 hours as of this writing. Eight games for $2. It actually includes some pretty solid games, too:

-Alien Rage: Unlimited (looks like a mindless FPS, but it has a good rating on Steam).
-STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
-Mount & Blade
-Broken Sword: Director's Cut (an adventure game series I never had the pleasure of playing)
-Pool Nation
-A Bird Story
-Spy Chameleon
-Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project[DOUBLEPOST=1434153639,1434153549][/DOUBLEPOST]Green Man Gaming has Grand Theft Auto V for $59.99, but also has a code to give it to you for 25% off.
The code: GRAB25-PERCNT-OFFNOW

Uh, doesn't the Steam Summer Sale usually last more than 2 days?

EDIT: Nevermind, the front page of the store temporarily showed the normal page instead of the sale page.

There's a lot more actually, it's just a much, much longer game.
There's 3 main romances and a bunch of one-off prostitutes/courtesans that i know of. Either the game guides are deceiving me - I haven't progressed far enough to make a judgement....But in W1 there were literally some 30-odd different women and couples to play with. *shrug* Either way, it's less intrusive :p

Oh, I meant more than Witcher 2. Witcher 1 though were just fade to blacks and a silly nude art card.

Witcher 3 has by far the most sex scenes. The prostitute scenes are the fucking best. Hilarious ends to almost all of them. In fact, most of the Witcher 3's sex scenes are played for laughs.

I love the names for the monsters in the Steam mini-game. So far I've noticed:

- Morty and The Real Morty, both wearing 80's style vests in the futuristic area.
- Angryosa and Charleze in the post apocalypic wasteland,
- Spacewalker, who looks like Michael Jackson in Thriller
- The True Lord of the Ring, a dark haired pale zombie in a white dress
- Bob the Helldozer, a frequent boss.

Has anyone else spotted any especially good ones?

DOA 5 is on sale today for 50% off, bringing it down to 20 bucks. I was tempted to buy it because I was a big DOA fan back around DOA2 (and of course XBV)... but after reading the reviews of the PC port (bad), I've decided not to get it.[DOUBLEPOST=1434408372,1434408319][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, I Am Bread is 4 bucks, for anyone experiencing a burning need to play a simulator to find out what it is like to be bread.

Marvel is BY FAR better than Batman. The questing structure is better and the unlocks are more fun to get. The DC unlock structure is just kind of boring, especially finding all the gold bricks on the various Lantern planets.

Yeah I've been focusing more on Marvel so far, it's been fun. Batman's not bad but I don't really like the Batman/Robin suit swap thing. I'd rather just play the other characters.

Space Engineers is 50% off. I don't recommend buying it, but I'll take the increased ad revenue on my tutorial series that usually follows a sale/free weekend :D

I am tempted to re-buy Fallout: New Vegas. Nothing else on the list is appealing. I own the PS3 version, but it's definitely the kind of game that's more interesting on PC--as much as I hate to feed the PC Elite trolls.

I think Bethesda games really are objectively better on PC than on console, this is nothing to do with console vs. PC arguements and more the fact that they take the same already buggy game and port it to a much more limited system where it's harder if not impossible from the user-end to implement a patch or workaround. I gave up trying to play New Vegas on PS3 just from frustration of losing my progress simply from the game locking up far too often.

GREAT game. Terrible console port.

I wish Steam would just go back to getting trading cards for voting. The clicker game is really annoying and seems completely pointless. Plus, I absolutely don't get how the card drops are supposed to work. I'm currently sitting at 12 card drops remaining and they seem to be completely random. I was reading that you get one for reaching level 10 (didn't get one despite restarting a new game several times), beating a boss (nope), or joining a friend's game (Nnnnnope!).
