I could tell, because I was looking for the signs, but man the tech really is getting better and better. I'm sure no-one will be abuse this to paint political opponents in a bad light.
Now, can we please bring this level of deep faking to porn? I understand full-body is much harder but the level you see there really is worse.
Faking real people's faces onto pornography seems really gross and unethical to me.
Just wait 'till they start deepfaking 15-year-old celebrity faces on 18-year-old bodies.

It's usually illegal regardless of the age of the subject.
Things get more complicated when you are talking about the likeness(es) of fictional characters (He-Man, Lara Croft, Mr. Clean, Mickey Mouse).

I can commisserate. I did the snapchat thing back when they were doing Anime filters. I used fake info to make the account, but it was still a pain in the ass to mess with, and so now I'm content to let others do the thing.
