Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

This one was such a shitshow to pass that the house wont make any amendments, because that'd mean the senate would need to vote again.

They're going to have to figure out some things, as there are a few conflicts. Or maybe those were stricken from the Senate one last night, so who knows?

AND it classifies life at conception, AND it removes the individual mandate effectively killing the ACA, AND oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve, AND it taxes colleges higher so that they'll have to raise tuition.

This whole thing is a shit show. Remember when Kansas did shit like this with a huge republican majority and it bankrupted the state? Yeah, let's do that on a national scale.

The funny thing is, the abortion part means this will go to court and be stricken down as unconstitutional, until it hits the Supreme Court, which is now loaded conservative thanks to these very same republicans refusing to vote on Obama's nominee and putting in their own crazy piece of shit.

American voters, you are fucking idiots.

Don't forget treating waived tuition as taxable income.

And that senior citizens can no longer deduct high-cost medical stuff from their taxes. I'm really surprised to see this one in considering so many senior citizens are Republicans, but I guess the Republicans figure so long as they have Trump, they can do whatever they want and idiots will eat it up.

Even if other developing situations put Trump out of the White House, damage has been done.

This bill has nothing to do with trump. It would've been passed with any other republican president. All republicans are bad people. That doesn't mean all Dems are saints, but this bill (among like, a billion other things) shows the stupidity of trying to equate the two.

I'm not so sure the republicans are super-concerned about future elections. They've already secured their post-office seven figure consulting jobs at koch industries.

Sanctuary cities exist because ICE fucked up once upon a time, and the Supreme Court ruled that local law enforcement is not required to help them do their job. That said, Sanctuary cities have different ways of acting, some of which go way beyond that scope. In Boulder, they just don't ask anyone's citizenship status, so they have no way to know unless ICE decides to check on their own. Releasing someone from prison who committed a violent crime because they are illegally in the country is fairly egregious for anyone to do.
I like what you’re getting at here. For me there’s a pretty big difference between turning a blind eye to someone’s recidency status when taking statements, responding to 911 calls etc. and holding someone after an arrest. One is decency and sanity, the other is lunacy.

Well, all it seems is that you went lower. Obviously the best way to convince someone to change is to insult them.
They are defending pedophilia in the name of raising taxes on the poor in order to cut them for the rich. If you aren't out now, you will never be out.

Back to this, I seem to have misunderstood the situation. When I'm talking how sanctuary cities are a good thing, I'm referring to the former. If you commit a crime, being an illegal immigrant obviously shouldn't be a get out of jail free card.

I wonder how Congress will reconcile these two tax bills. I also wonder if the bullshit pulled in the Senate last night will affect a certain special election.

It'll show the fine people of Alabama that republicans can actually get some good done. Hell, they might've found a way to ban abortion in this bill.

Because, unlike Obama who they claimed would do it but never would, I can totally imagine Trump postpone elections indefinitely because of "reasons". And modern day republican voters accept it.

Literally can't trust Russia one fucking iota with anything. They're literally a mafia state.
Same goes for China, IMO. One of these times they'll just fling a fetus across the gymnastics mat, and the judges will call straight 10s.

The NHL isn't going to be there, so there'll be no reason for most of the world who'd watch the Winter Olympics to actually do so.

I don't understand the age minimum for gynmastics. If a 14 year old is the best, let her be the best. If thats just the age where you can be great at it, then so be it. All sports feature people in roughly the same age group.

I think a lot of it has to do with not pushing kids too hard at too young of an age.

The younger you are, the better you are, because you are shorter and can flip more times before the end of the mat. The problem arises from it having been agreed among all the participants that 16 was the minimum age, and then china went and bald-faced-lied to everyone about the age of their gymnasts. I mean, if there HADN'T been an agreed minimum age, then I don't think there'd have been a problem. But there was, so there is. And nobody wanted to call China on it because they were the host country and would get all drama-queen about it if pressed.
