Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

If only there was this thing called "net neutrality" to make sure ISPs had to allow access to all kinds of legal content on equal footing. Oh well!

More seriously, as long as the ISP is open and upfront about it, I don't see why they couldn't. I can imagine an ISP releasing a product that deliberately cuts off access to anything lewd, for the deeply religious weak willed. And I'm sure it'd be a success, too.

...I could go on with the list of all the stuff I've found when people come to me with, "Why isn't my Internet working?" but I feel like those are the ones I see most often.

You know I still can't get over the fact we dealt with a big impeachment scandal over lying about a blowjob, and later had to deal with nearly two years of committee hearings about Benghazi, but now that the Capitol was violently attacked these same jokers are like "We have to unify and move on, you can't just impeach him."

Fuck you.

I have already argued with some people saying it was "Not Trump's fault they attacked.", but here is the thing. Words matter. I don't care if Trump literally wanted them to attack or not, because in the end he used his platform to spew months of bullshit over a stolen election, continued to say he won in a landslide, kept talking about how they have to be "strong" and "fight" or that the country is going to fail under Biden, that he is a communist, that he works for China, etc. Trump and his cronies are not going to be allowed to sweep this under the rug. You guys built this up thinking it was all just politics, but words have consequences.

There will be no unity without justice.

two years of committee hearings about Benghazi
...where only four people died, don't forget. As opposed to the five who died during the insurrection (and the unknown number of additional deaths we will see due to creating a critical mass of coronavirus).

There's a reason the black people in South Africa didn't just go "oh hey, Kumbaya". The Truth and Reconciliation Committee is still considered better than appeasement or lynching as a way of dealing with years of hurt caused by one part of the country to the other.

With all likelihood, that ISP is a number of people's only choice for internet. That's the problem.

"But you can call and have them whitelist it"

Yeah, and have your name put on a list as a deviant, and potentially made a target for violent Trump supporters.

I never said I thought it was a good idea - quite on the contrary. It's horrible.

PragerU reminds me how much I hate any group that adds "University" to it's name even though it's not an actual school. You know they do it just to make some dumb shit think they are accredited while Prager posts lecture videos discussing how nice slavery was for black people in the south.

Big companies like AT&T and Comcast say they're rethinking their political contributions after last week. Would any of them be so bold as to drop Fox News? Tucker, Hannity, et. al. are still fanning the flames in the absence of Parler.

As long as OANN is an option, dropping Fox News wouldn't really affect things. Comfort seeking conservatives would just be pushed to the more extreme alternative.

Watching the impeachment in the House right now. Remember all those republicans who said they would cross the aisle? Right now it's a straight party line with only 10 republican votes yet to be counted. I'm shocked - SHOCKED - that they say one thing and do another!

Never mind. This was a procedural vote, not the actual impeachment vote.

Need that bicycle meme where the GOP jams a stick into their front wheel, and the stick is also labeled “GOP.”

When I become an operative for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party I never could have imagined that Leopards would eat MY face!

I'm hurting the wrong people!
