Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

When I was in college, Papa Johns was basically the only pizza place that delivered to campus. It sucked.
Papa John's has only been in St. Albert for a couple of years. They really tried hard when they first opened. Now though, ugh, I've had pizza delivered with less than a 50% coverage of cheese and toppings. It was a dough disc with a small topping circle in the center. Let alone if you cash in those points for a free pizza. Those things are shamefully dire and obviously so. I'd rather drive over to Little Caesar's and spend 8 bucks on one of their stuffed crusts than give Papa John's a dime.

The worst part of that article IMO is that I found out that at some point those "people" said New Balance was their official shoes. I LIKE their shoes. They make them in ridiculous widths, which are what my feet are. I didn't "dig in" to see if there was a REASON why they endorsed them (Hopefully not a cross-endorse) but... bad optics you know?

Yeah, I wear them for the same reason. I'm not excessively tall (6'3") but my feet are excessively large (size 15).

A guy in my homeroom in High School was around 6'2" or so, but size 16 feet. I'm huge tall, but (relatively) small feet for the height, but stupid width. 6'7" tall, but size 13 with 4E width.

This was basically my reaction when they picked black polo shirts as their uniform. Had to throw out all my polos and buy white dress shirts. *sigh*

I hope that no one believes that simply because an association or person is endorsed by losers like the Storm, that they are indeed in the same camp - true association is a two way road. If so, I'd seriously have to question their ability to think critically. z

To be fair, Papa John fucking sucks in general, which is why nazzzzis and stormers and the like are into him, despite his pleads for them not to be.

So in our local Sheriff's election we have our incumbent thats a reprehensible person that has been here for awhile and he's facing a real challenger. With 91% of the vote and 185,000 votes cast, there is a 94 vote difference. Makes me so glad I went out and cast mine in a race thats this close. Hopefully he loses.

In the meantime, I'm not getting sleep.

Edit: I refreshed and the votes updated. He's now up over 2000 votes. Fuck the trash in this county.

Some really interesting things have been happening lately in Saudi Arabia, most recently a massive number of arrests aimed at rooting out corruption and graft. It's so sweeping and high level, it's being called a purge. Coupled with other developments vis a vis Yemen and Qatar, along with social changes (women are to be allowed to drive and attend sporting events starting next year), it makes for a situation worth watching.

The new crown prince is only 32 years old. You can't even be president in the US at 32.

Here's a bird's eye view of it all.

Bernie wasn't some magical savior of America. Socialism isn't a cure all. The political spectrum has been swinging right because of the excesses of Leftism in modern times.

DNC strong arming itself is a clear indicator that Democrats have lost control of the plot. Lately it seems the Left is intent on canniblizing itself.
Um, so after yesterday, what was it you said about the political spectrum swinging right?

I've been following this pretty closely and it's going to be interesting to see if he can stay in power. This is the guy responsible for curtailing the powers of the clerics, giving women the ability to drive, etc. He's very progressive by their standards and there's a big showdown between him and the ultra-conservative religious there.

I figure that's what the arrests are really about, that's he's neutering (by jail and billion dollar seizures) the people he expects might cause trouble when its time for him to take the throne.

Prediction: conservative voters will believe Moore’s assertion that this is a plot by the DNC to smear his name and write it off as fake news.
I found out about this story from seeing someone mention breitbarts "article" saying just that. I won't link to it because i have standards even for the opposition.

MEANWHILE!

Republicans are doing the most incredible mental gymnastics defending Roy Moore's relationship with a 14 year old.

Sean Hannity:

Paul Reynolds, the Republican National Committeeman from Alabama

Alabama state auditor, Jim Ziegler

Look, they were very mature for their age, ok?

/Iaculus or Icarus or whoever

And that makes you simply ecstatic, doesn’t it?
Absolutely not. If the DNC wasn't hamstrung it may have paid more attention to its constituents than its candidates.

That's nearly half the country whose voice was muted, even if only slightly.

Certainly not a situation to celebrate.

To all those who may think "why didn't this come out in the last 4-5 elections this guy had?" I would say this: The current environment of exposing abusers (started by the Weinstein thing) is probably what lets this out now.

This is a good thing.

Now let's see if we can nail other prominent rapists in the public eye like Bill Clinton and Polanski (more victims have come forth). That they're getting away with it and destroying their victims' credibility and lives is worse in some ways than those who have never been publicly accused. Their examples show other victims that even if they speak up, nothing happens. The more prominent the figure, the more harsh the punishment should be, and these two are possibly the MOST prominent, and are not brought to justice at all, and excuses are continually made.

The difference between the right and the left.

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaig...d-vote-for-moore-even-if-allegations-are-true

Anthony Weiner sexted underaged girls and the left dumped his ass. The right? Roy Moore is still cool.
There's a reason I mentioned Polanski above. Many (many) on the "Left" still support him, for the same crime, though Polanski is convicted. So painting the whole left or right gets really risky REALLY fast Dave.

But as somebody (nominally) on the right-hand-side of things, I wouldn't vote for the guy (or a woman) under accusation. I support their right to a fair trial, but that's not the same as supporting them politically. Too much risk! If he's in it for the "cause" (or whatever) and not himself, he should step aside because he's not helping said cause.

So the Republican chairman of a tiny county (~20k pop) in Alabama apparently represents the entire right-wing spectrum of U.S. politics.

A'ight.

As @Eriol above me pointed out, this is one of those things that you can't put your tribalism hat on and claim some sort of moral high ground, because there are countless examples of this shit no matter where you stand. If sexual harrassment/assault/crime was despised by the left, and left-leaning people, we wouldn't have a thread dedicated to one of the most liberal bastions in the U.S. on this topic.

Excellent point. I really, really don't understand Hollywood's love of Polanski. The dude is a fucking scum.
