So, who's getting this?

If you are, what are your plans on the game? Raid.... casual.. etc....

I am planning I have it preordered, :D not sure what I plan to do with it yet in terms of switching it to my main online rpg or what I will probably still raid with friends in WoW but may focus in PvP with this.

I have always had an odd relationship with Guild Wars. I beta tested the original and really loved it, then they altered the skill system drastically before release, and I found myself not enjoying it as much. I tried playing it for awhile but after a time I just got bored. I didn't buy the "expansions" until later, tried them, still didn't really catch me.

Guild Wars 2 does look to be drastically better then GW1, but I still have an odd taste in my mouth about it because nothing they say really excites me. No tanks or healers? Okay that is neat and all, but I sometimes like the variety afforded those roles. I don't like just playing DPS. Similar skill system as the first game? Meh. I think in the end I will wait to see what others here say about it, because so far my friends that have beta tested have not been very enthusiastic about it. Either way I will likely buy it someday just like GW1, that is the nice thing about it not having a fee.

I will be getting it. Some of my old pals from Warhammer are trying to convince me to restart the guild I led in WAR for GW2, but I haven't decided if that's what I want to do yet. But I will be getting it. The PvP sounds too much like what I want.

What kind of guild?
It focused almost exclusively on rvr/PvP content. We maintained characters in every tier, did a ton of keep assaults and defenses, ran premade Scenario groups. Guild and alliance warbands. That sort of thing.

No interest on PVE content at all?

I've been looking at the game more seriously the last few days. Shame there's no beta going.

Time to download another client then.

I would love to revisit realm PVP back as it used to be in DAOC.

My man's really interested in this game, and I believe he's already pre-ordered two copies. Work has been busy, though, and school's starting up again soon, so I'm not particularly optimistic I'm going to be playing much.

Really, until Bioware took it over, Warhammer's was a pretty good approximation. Heck, there were some nights where my guild could attack, take, and defend a keep all on their own as "something to do that night." It was a lot of fun. Then EA basically gutted mythic and gave WAR to bioware for some bizarre reason. My theory was they wanted them to have practice in administrating an MMO before TOR launched. But shit went downhill fast.

So, when you plan to do your decision GasBandit?
Probably within a week or two after launch. I'll definitely be playing, just not sure if I'll be leading a guild or just joining one. It took up a HUGE amount of time last time, even though I had specifically planned the guild structure so as NOT to eat up all my time. It pretty much ended up my very own cult of personality, and if I wasn't there to actively lead and give orders, they all got bored and surly and drifted apart instead of doing stuff together. It kinda burns you out faster, feeling the obligations of that kind of leadership.

Been there, done that.

Guild officer to a WoW raiding guild... for years... guild was ranked 82nd US.... it was quite the achievement but damn are people drama llamas.

Oh, there was very little drama. The problem was there was very little of ANYTHING if I wasn't there to lead it. I had hoped to build a guild and train officers that could take over for me after I left, making the guild self-perpetuating. I tried, but it didn't work out. When I left the game, despite giving a month's notice and setting up a successor and officers and getting other people to lead guild night events occasionally... the whole thing pretty much dissolved like kool-aid mix into water after I left. It was discouraging.

Finally managed to play a bit last night.

It's a solid game.

Not much to be accomplished during stress tests though. Lag city.

Still need to find a guild... will look after I get back from Europe.

We gotta fix that GasBandit
Actually, it's been pretty nice. Playing lots of RTSes, FPSes, etc. It'll be nice to have an MMO without the pressure a subscription fee brings, though. Previously, we would play whatever MMO we were active on to the exclusion of ALL OTHER GAMES because it was costing us 30 bucks a month (for 2 accounts).

Us?

Heh, there was like a 5 hour down time today because the log in servers got murdered after 7 hours... guess a lot of people got up at 7 am today.
