[Movies] MCU: Phase 3 And Beyond

DC's characters aren't the problem; it's the garbage in charge of them in the movies right now. But we still have the TV shows.
I thought this is what I was saying? But yes, I 100% agree wit you. They really need better people in charge of the films. And a good chunk of the comics, too. Both DC and Marvel could use a little tweaking.

I said it as agreement :p; people seem to think there's this whole Marvel vs DC thing, but it's really just arguing over how DC's movies could stop sucking.

I think we're going to be stuck in the Snyderverse unless Affleck shows desire to take over. Though we don't need a new Batman movie, I'm confident he can make a good one. It's just said to look at IMDB and see "written by, directed by, starring" and realize Ben Affleck is that one kid on the group project who's actually trying to get an A.

A thought occurred to me regarding The Avengers, post-Civil War. Spoiler'd, just in case.

Who's left on either side? Because I don't think Tony has many officially behind him.

Tony: War Machine (the suit can compensate, I assume), Vision, and maybe Spidey?
Cap: Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Falcon, technically Bucky.
Black Widow is an unknown player, since she betrayed Tony's side at the end. Cap warned her they'll come looking for her.

You have the official, UN-backed Avengers for Tony and essentially the Secret Avengers with Cap. Which doesn't really leave much for Tony, does it? I wonder where they'll go with that?

My count matches yours, but in the context of the MCU I don't think it matters much that Tony's roster is a bit thin. We have a bunch of solo movies coming up, and then afterwards we have Infinity War. Even if the members of Cap's team aren't "officially" Avengers, there's no chance they don't come back and stand against Thanos.

That's probably why they haven't used the "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!" catchphrase yet. They're holding it for when the whole team comes back together.

And when it does, I will MARK THE FUCK OUT.

Spoilered War Machine stuff:

At one point in the comics, Rhodes actually had a ton of cybernetic implants due to getting caught in an explosion or something (at work so I can't look it up). So still being active as long as the suit compensates for his currently weak legs is totally possible.

Huh. So that's why those guys were in Lego Avengers.

Edit:
Maybe it's just a coincedence that these guys were included and the Inhuman weren't, but it's starting to feel like these games are dropping major hints. I guess we can expect an announcement about the Young Avengers one of these days.

Really curious about Bruce Banner's role in all this. I wonder if we'll get a Planet Hulk movie someday.
Apparently the rights are complicated, and a "Hulk" movie would have to be developed by Universal at this point, sort of like how the next Spider-man movie is still being done by Sony/Columbia, even if Marvel is making all the decisions.

Mark Ruffalo said this past week that Thor and Hulk will be a "buddy movie in space" for Thor 3. I definitely want that over Thor 2.

In the rumor mill, people have been speculating who's going to be in Spider-man: Homecoming, and the latest is suggesting we could see Kingpin show up. That's a long shot, but not a bad idea.

Sebastian Stan is like, "Holy shit, did we take a wrong turn onto tumblr or something?"

Chris Evans is like, "Oh, it wasn't a wrong turn."

Sharon Stone has apparently signed on for a minor role in the MCU, and most think she'll be playing Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp we never saw the face of.

You know, at some point I really hope RDJ is just having a blast with all this and willing to make movies for the fans that helped re-jumpstart his career in the big popcorn flicks. Cameos of him would be just fine.

*as an aside, Now that Martin Freeman in the MCU, if at some point he doesn't hear Stark and Strange arguing over some cosmic occurrence and doesn't turn his head and say "Well no shit, Sherlocks" . . . I think the world will be all "Son I am disappoint"

Right now, I believe Avengers 4 is set to be Downey Jr's last MCU movie, but there's plenty of time for that to change. Chris Evans was supposed to finish out there too, but he's extended his contract.

I think Evans has basically said he loves playing Cap and will do it as long as DisMarvel lets him.

Also I can't click the Glover link, so I'm going to hope he plays Miles Morales and perhaps we dip into the Ultimate Spider-Man pool. He's in the main universe now, so it wouldn't be too far-fetched.
