[Movies] MCU: Phase 5 - To Kang or Not to Kang

Also, just to check, isn't Sentry basically in the Hulk or Thor's tier in the comics? Or even higher? So if Sentry is meant to be the antagonist for this film, how are these guys supposed to be able to do anything to him? Maybe they disable him through his agoraphobia?
Yes, and isn’t that the point? It’s like saying Thanos is so powerful, how could the Avengers ever stand a chance against him?

Also, the MCU essentially defanged both Thor and Hulk, so I imagine The Sentry also won’t be the near-cosmic level threat he is usually portrayed as in the comics.

Fair points indeed. I guess we'll see.

It's just that having Sentry as the antagonist reminded me of the first Suicide Squad trailer, where Waller said something like, "If Superman decided to come down and lift the roof off the White House, who's going to stop him?" And I thought, "Not these guys, that's for sure."

This could either end up feeling like the first Suicide Squad movie, or it could end up feeling like the first Avengers movie. I hope it's the latter but I fear it may be the former.

Sentry is basically Marvel's version of Superman, at least in power level. Though whether the movie will do the same is hard to say. Though, if you know Sentry's story, you can probably guess the twist of this film will be null in void.

I remember the New Avengers comics with Sentry learning who he is. They show him a bunch of Bronze Age comic books featuring him and even bring in one of the comic book writers. And then the combined Fantastic 4, X-Men, and Avengers hold the Void back while Emma Frost breaks into Bob's psyche and revives his memories.

I can picture the Thunderbolts trying to unscramble Bob's brain, and so they have him play a '90s side-scroller arcade game like the old Avengers or X-Men games except he's one of the characters. Maybe they could bring in Kevin Feige or the Russo brothers playing themselves, wondering how one of their old creations is sitting there in front of them. Better yet, bring in Bob Iger just because his presence in a popular film would cause Gov. Desantis to lose his mind.

Remember what they did to Ultron. An extinction level malevolent AI that is impossible to completely kill off and root out 100%, probably one of the greatest perpetual threats Earth has ever faced.... defeated in melee combat ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I really liked Spaders performance as Ultron and hope they'll bring him back

I mean, if you take out the ONCE AND FOR ALL, that's just comic book accuracy.

So I'm watching the latest episode of AGATHA ALL ALONG, and I'm realizing the show as a whole is less about Agatha and more about reintroducing another character. And by proxy building up something that Marvel has already been sowing the seeds for a few years now.

Billy "Wiccan" Maximoff is alive. And his brother, Tommy, apparently, according to him.

So that's most of the Young Avengers introduced into the MCU.

-Patriot was in Falcon & Winter Soldier and apparently in Captain America: Brave New World
-Miss America was introduced in Dr Strange 2.
-Stature, Ant-Man's daughter was seen in Endgame and Ant-Man: Quantumania.
-Kate Bisop introduced in Hawkeye.
-Ms Marvel had her own show, and The Marvels (and teased Young Avengers at the end of that). She wasn't a Young Avenger, but she'll fit right in.

And now Billy and potentially Tommy.

Only ones missing are Hulking and Iron Lad. Given they're dumping Kang in favor of Dr Doom, they might skip Iron Lad.

So they've basically been treating the Young Avengers like the infinity stones before, sprinkling them throughout the MCU.

I'm curious if they'll call them Young Avengers or Champions, since either one is super marketable.

Wasn't Hulking introduced in the very last episode of She-Hulk?

With Agatha I'm intentionally waiting until it's done and then will just crush it all in an afternoon. I did have that particular point spoiled for me
I also had absolutely guessed that's where they were going with him when the marketing first just started calling him "teen"

Agatha ending was as good as it could be.
My wife was in tears “Is Agatha good or bad? I want her to be good.”
Me: “She’s bad. She’s always been bad.”
Her: “But she could be good.”
Me: “No”

While it was certainly one of the better MCU shows by a wide margin, Agatha All Along felt like less about Agatha and more of a vehicle to set up [redacted]. And to further fill out the roster for the inevitable [redacted] team.
