Terrik "But I avenged you!"
Come now, on that Route 66 map, when we flew past the checkpoint, we were totally like this:

Where I'm Leonidas, those are the corpses of our enemies, and you're the guy in the back right with an arrow through his neck because you got sniped by a Hanzo, but I totally destroyed him two seconds later.

Seriously, the amount of death cams I had last night where a teammate runs past me as I get attacked was not a small number.

You know that emote has a whole lot of people in a tizzy, because the running theory is that Mercy isn't actually "alive".
I don't want to get into too many details, but there are a lot of allusions to how Mercy never seems to age. Mei comments on how she looks just as young as when they met, and Mei herself was stuck in a cryo-chamber for years. There are also comments between Reaper and Mercy alluding to deeper ties, as it was Mercy that actually brought him back to life and made him into the being he is today using one of her experiments. This event left Reyes in a perpetual state of cellular break down, and then regenerating by sucking the life from others, making him perpetually immortal, but also technically still "dead".

The rumor is that Mercy had actually done the experiment on herself, only with a somewhat different outcome. She now can regenerate wounds (she is the only character that naturally heals her health) but at the side effect of stopping her heart, making her technically just as "dead" as Reaper, but lead to her finally learning how to fully stop death (her ult) . Thus the emote she checks her pulse and then shrugs like she can't feel anything.

I'd like to know where you're getting this lore, if it's from somewhere other than playoverwatch.com.

Just various theories talked about all over the place, using scraps of info gained from the website, videos, and tidbits in the game. If you listen to the little interactions between characters you can learn a lot about them. For instance, while the website makes everything about Reaper mysterious including his origins, we know about the whole connection of Reaper and Mercy due to the game interactions.
  • Mercy: What happened to you?!
  • Reaper: You tell me, Doc.
  • Mercy: This is not what I intended for you, Reyes.
  • Reaper: You knew exactly what were you doing.
Also, if you are lucky enough to get a kill shot on Mercy as Reaper, you sometimes get this voice quote.
  • Reaper: Don't forget, you're the one responsible for this.
Of course, in instances like Mercy being an undead immortal, those are just theories based on her supposed agelessness, and the weird shrug she does when checking her own pulse. Nothing is confirmed on that one yet, so it could be entirely off base, but it does make sense as part of her persona since she was obsessed with stopping death (Reaper, Genji, etc.) and after the horrible consequence of creating Reaper, she likely did any future experiments on herself rather then hurt anyone else, before finally perfecting it for her resurrection ability to be used on others.

Saw a video on Tumblr of a Mercy slowfalling into a pit , and the POV Pharah dove down so Mercy could rush up to her and be saved.

Wonder if anything that sweet ever happened with Terrik and Dei.

You mean that's not at least partially from the descending arc?

It wasn't shot over the wall, but to the side of it. The issue is that the arrow's in-game model, which is used for detecting collision with stationary things like walls and non-player entities (pots, trucks, statuary) passed within an inch of the side of the obstructing wall, but the arrow's "hitbox" - a defined-but-invisible 3D polygonal area overlayed on the visible model - is so much larger than the arrow that it intersected Widowmaker's head's "hitbox." Blizzard has admitted that they enlarged Hanzo's arrow hitboxes to artificially boost his accuracy.

IMO if they can nerf Torbjorn's turrets on console only, they can nerf Hanzo's arrow hitboxes on PC only.

Actually, I might be misremembering, but I think something like that actually happened last night. Though, Terrik didn't jump into the pit, just went to the edge of it so he was visible to Dei, who then could fly back up to him.

I'm also of the opinion that Mercy should be able to use her fly ability without aiming at a friendly target, but triggering a longer cooldown on the ability when doing so. The cooldown right now is 2 seconds to fly to an ally, so I was thinking a 6 or 8 second cooldown after flying with no friendly anchor.

No, not last night. It has happened, but it's more likely that Terrik flies off and leaves me to die. :p

You have left me to die too, so don't get too high up on your horse. :O
Only because it never occurred to me you'd be healing me until you were already dead, since I've just become resigned to the fact that 99% of the time you're up in the air with Terrik :p

They are balancing the console and PC versions completely independently of each other, which is a smart idea, IMO.

So many poorly-placed blue walls.

They also had a few times were an enemy Mei in-inadvertently helped the player, my favorite being the ult-ing McCree who was unable to get targets through the Reinhardt shield, only for the enemy Mei to accidentally raise him high into the air and exposing all the players behind the shield to a painful death. Also love the hook save. :awesome:
