[Gaming] Overwatch (#boycottblizz)

Finally tried the brawl on Normal last night.
Just over one minute in, our Hanzo leaves. Thanks, Hanjo.
We almost managed to get through Junkenstein's monster with just the three of us. Not bad.

Wife bought me $20 of loot boxes. Got Mercy in the first five, and then another Mercy later, the skin my wife really wants. Early in hers she got Junkenstein, the one I really want.

Next Overwatch event, Loot Box of the Magi.

All that countdown hype for this:

"Establishing Connection...
Protocol Sombra v1.95 initiated...

Transmission finalized - finalizing loading...
Loading finalized. Unit Bastion e-54 compromised.

Terminating connection.

Does this mean a bastion nerf?

I'm actually impressed they included the symbol for "Healing" in Mercy's Hallowe'en skin:

The fact that it is very close to the upside-down Nabisco-ish symbol for "Witch" is probably not coincidence.

Some day I want Gasbandit to meet a stunning redhead, former gymnast, with a good job in the tech industry, who is an avid gamer with hundreds of hours in Space Engineer... but who mains Mei and votes Democratic Socialist.

Soldier's getting a huge buff on PTR, damage per shot went up from 17 to 20, spread nerf reverted, reloads even faster during tac visor.

Torbjorn's turret builds faster, upgrades faster (due to faster hammer speed), and he passively generates scrap. Scrap pickups have reduced the amount you get per corpse to compensate.

D.Va gets 100 more hp (armor stays the same) and moves less slowly during firing. Because she wasn't ez-mode enough apparently.

Mei's ult activation is faster (the time between firing and effect, not the build to it being available).

One other thing that doesn't look like it was mentioned in the patch notes but that I noticed right away.
They brought Torb's viewpoint down to match his height. When I play as Torb now, I can't see through the windows in the spawn point doors any more. They're too high.

Also yesterday I noticed how much of a difference there is between client-side and server-side positioning. I couldn't figure out how my Pharah would get killed by a Rip-tire so often when I would jump jet so far out of range, but in the death cam I saw that the game puts me at barely a couple feet above the tire by the time it goes off. That means the server is lagging behind what the client shows me even though my ping, RTT, etc., are all good.

At least once a night I always think or say "what the fuck, how did that kill me, I was already around the corner out of sight!"

I'm all for the Soldier improvements. The way he is now, he's useful, but really only as an anti-Pharah/Mercy tool.
I approve of the hammer speed increase, but not so sure I like the passive scrap generation. I like the "looting" mechanic.
I think D.Va's change won't make too much difference IF they somehow nerf her defensive matrix. All the other tanks' shields can be shot down/disabled (at least temporarily), D'Va's matrix should gain some kind of an achilles heel, too. Her other abilities are annoying but can be overcome, but that matrix just has no downside (even with the cooldown).
Completely meh on the Mei changes.

You just play Zarya (or to a lesser extent Rein) and wreck D.Va because she can't block you. Or you flank her on Reaper. And especially at this rank it's pretty easy to get a D.Va to blow all her def matrix before you do something big. Bastion also tends to shred the mech if she's trying to 1v1 because she can't shoot while matrix is up and she can't do damage faster than him when it's down.

As much as I like to play D.Va, I dont think the HP buff is a good idea. It barges into Roadhog's territory of having the most health (Oh, and no shield). Plus, she ALREADY had the advantage of, you know, not dying after chewing through 500hp of health and armor.

Also, I hope they buff Pharah soon because all these pharah counters have been getting buffs and Pharah gets jack shit. Maybe I'll continue to work on my mcree/reaper.

It starts to feel like you get punished for playing Pharah aggressively, which is maybe why at low ranks we see so many people playing Pharah waaaaaay in the back.

Don't get too excited with those brofists, I think playing Pharah at the back from range is terrible. :p
The way she is now, it's the best way to play her, unless someone else is willing to go Mercy.
...which keeps not happening for some reason. I swear, I had a competitive game today where someone on our team just sat in the spawn area for half the match.
We lost.

Because what Lucio needed was a healing nerf?
Hey, they might as well break the game again like they did in late June's patch. Blizzard, seriously, what the fucking hell? Where are they pulling their data from? This is ass-backwards of any shit I see.

Must be the Xbox One version.

It's because they balance around high end play and eSports, both things that none of us will ever see. ;)

I'm really excited about the soldier buff. I already felt pretty strong on him and it's much better when our group brings the damage.
