I was thinking the exact same thing Frankie.
At least it was the first joke in 3 weeks.Yawn. Lucille bores me.
If by better, you mean only, then yes.Today's comic, Lucille slaps Cole telling him to come out of his senses. GREAT. Now she's an IMPORTANT character. Still, an all-right joke at the end though. Does anyone else feel that Lucille is getting the better punch-lines?
You know I wanted to say something, but I wanted hold any shred of respect I still had for Kurtz. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's gone. Only she is not so much hilarious, as she is....just there. She is more or less Lucille from Arrested Development which is strange because it means that Scott has ripped off that character fully twice now.
He's also stretchy around the waist.Cole Richards is also a blatant rip-off of Reed Richards. Both are middle-aged white males, the leaders of their teams, with their best friend as second in command. Both are intelligent, and both subvert the macho stereotype commonly found in comic book heroes.
Because there's only so much growth that can happen in a cat that talks and wants to rule the world. If he doesn't come back, which is unlikely than yes.
Why does Scratch seem to suck more and more each comic he's in?
Personally I enjoyed his antics... until the whole "Kringus is a real supervillain" schtick. Before that I got a few nice laughs out of the juxtaposition of his supervillainous behaviour and his lack of resources to be an actual supervillain, if you know what I mean. The whole Kringus thing stopped being funny when the mall Santa revealed that the prophecy was true or something.Because there's only so much growth that can happen in a cat that talks and wants to rule the world.
Me too, I miss Reggie. It kind of annoys me that when they broke up Reggie was the one that left the comic while she stayed and just got sluttier. I mean that Chad sub-plot was funny but we all knew they were gonna break up. It was painfully obvious. Speaking of her being Shallow, remember when they were leaving for Seattle and Miranda was jealous that Jade was getting more attention? I...don't get that one. Was she breaking the fourth wall? It was confusing as hell.I wouldn't mind seeing more of her, to be honest. Or Reggie, for that matter... Call me sentimental, but I always felt there was more to be had from their relationship. As it is now, we get only Reggie's word that once they started dating, it was basically just Miranda using sex to keep Reggie going out with him. Now, Miranda is shallow as hell, but somehow I thought Reggie might have gotten through to her.

Man, that is a struggle. When I make my comics, I gotta make sure to develop all the characters I make and not ignore any of them.Lack of character development.
It's a struggle in a continuing medium--how much to keep the same to appease the readers who come back for familiarity, and how much to change to please the readers who like to see growth and development.
You just summed up Kurtz writing style in a nut-shell Iago's personal speaking line.Do you know what's going to happen next in this story? Because I think I do. We've got a month of guest strips coming up, starting with the lolbat/axecop disaster-in-the-making (I bet they're going to kill some bad guys!) Followed by the penny-arcade takeover. Then, when kurtz comes back, Cole will be back in the office with only a brief acknowledgement made of what happened. The everything will be back to normal, save for the existence of Lucille who will never be fully fledhed out as a character and only show up from time to time to make one-off jokes before slowly fading from the comic's view. No one will ever acknowledge that Duckerwhatever even existed save for a few references about it the next time Jase shows up.
