Reaction Video Showcase

So, I generally hate youtube shorts. The enforced short-form, hypercondensed, forced-portrait aspect ratio videos are a complete anathema to everything I think makes a video enjoyable.

But there's this channel called thehitobito that KEEPS COMING UP in my youtube feed, which produces shorts almost exclusively... and for some reason, I can't stop clicking on it every time. I wonder why that is.

It is a mystery!~~~

While not necessarily a "reaction" channel in and of itself, you could kind of say it is because it's about an american teacher "reacting" to various aspects of living and working in Japan.

I always watch her videos..they're pretty enjoyable

I think Jay stepped away from reactions for personal reasons. So Amber launched her solo reaction channel.

I noticed this development too, when Amber posted her goodbye video at the Rob Squad channel. Jay has his own solo channel as well. Word in the deep reddits is they got divorced, which would kinda explain why the channel's last video had been filmed in October, and some commenters had been saying that the same chemistry hadn't been between them for a while. It was kind of a surprise to me, I hadn't picked up on anything.

I've seen a fair share of her shorts as well.

A relatively newcomer at the reactions game, I believe, with her oldest videos being less than 1 year old. Her Yorkshire accent and general sassiness make her reactions quite fun to watch, and she often dresses up in appropriate cosplay for whatever she's watching. I discovered her recently by coming across her Lord of the Rings reactions, and she'd previously watched Game of Thrones so she was very much in the "anyone can die at any time" mindset. This meant that she pretty much fell for it EVERY TIME the movies had a death fakeout, which as you may know are quite common in the LotR trilogy. (For example, Frodo getting stabbed by the cave troll, Pippin apparently getting stomped by a Rohirrim horse, Aragorn going over the cliff, etc.)

Also she looks a lot like Emily Blunt.
