Actually that's pretty good, as long as they do initially appear to favour you the most...

Well if all the DS choices hurt the Empire, then it's a problem... if not then the real problem is the fact that having both light and dark points isn't different from having only one type...

Otherwise, a computer game will always be pretty much unable to differentiate from helping others out of goodness and doing it because it's advantageous for you...
I agree. I just think that there are some issues with the way BioWare designed the dark side factions. Some of the choices are pretty stupid, like chastising you for recommending that an assassin who failed in her mission be killed because "a good tool is a useful thing." How is someone who failed in her assassination mission a "good tool?" She failed for cryin' out loud. If she'd been arrested after killing her target, that'd be different, but if I wanted to send someone to fail to kill a republic agent, I'd send an apprentice, or any of the imperial soldiers I run into on missions, or my master - he's pretty friggin' useless. It just seems to me like they got a really "in-touch with their dark side" programmer to do the initial programming and then someone came along afterward and said "You know... there are going to be kids playing this game and we can't have them thinking that we're OK with all of these choices. We better brighten things up a little, this is too dark." So now you just have a mess.

Dark Side decisions that seem to piss people off will often come around your way in the mail.

I've made Light Side decisions with my Bounty Hunter that, following the laws of unintended consequences, have ruined the lives of NPCs.

I actually liked that little conversation about the failed assassin. Killing her was the 'dark side' option that earned her darkside points on your morality scale, but it wasn't the choice your master hoped you would pick. That was a very early quest, and the purpose of it was to show that the empire isn't all murder all the time, and that sometimes even mercy can be a tool of the dark side, if it benefits you in the end.

And hey, if you -want- to murder her anyway, then you're free to, and you can tell your master to piss off. Because you're goddamn sith.

Yeah the early Sith Warrior quests actually helped teach me how to play Dark Side Sith: be ruthless, be intelligent, and above all, be decisive.

I'm enjoying it too. Not sure on endgame yet, just hit 50 - but the leveling is fun and enjoyable, particularly by mmo standards.

I'll put it this way: this is the first mmo where I hit cap and have an urge to immediately start a new character so I can see a different class's storyline.

You get more exp from quests than killing, which i appreciate. The quests are well done. Bonus quests are logical (you are probably going to kill x mobs while trying to get to point z anyway). story is well written. I like it.

I'm on a big PVP kick as I slowly make my way from 40-50. God I love Huttball. Of course, as Republic, I go into the warzones 20 seconds after I queue, and often get invited right after the last one ended. Yay!

I hit some weird bug that caused my launcher to not work. Reinstalling the game now, and for the first time in like 4 years, I wish I'd bought the physical version of this game. Having to redownload and reinstall will probably take like 22 hours.

So it's working from china?
...I don't know. Ill let you know when I get back. I'm in the US for another week or so. But it DID work, so to speak. I couldnt get to the patching server without a proxy but I could access the game afterwards. Lets hope that holds when I get back to shanghai.

I just started a trooper to play through the republic side of the game. And I love it, the corruption of the Republic is so much more interesting than the outright evil of the Empire.

Don't get too involved in the 'pubs just yet, we need 8 dudes in fighting force for an 8-man operation this Sunday.

What time? Seems like whenever I'm on it's either 3 people on or you guys are already doing something else. So I end up pvping and getting yelled at for being an OP... Op.

If you get the bug again, check the program folder for an executable named fixlauncher or launcherfix or something of that nature; same thing happened to me the first time I downloaded it and that fixed it.

That didn't work for me.

Snuff, we're going Sunday at 7:30 EST. Or that's the plan currently.

And you should log on. We have 7 50s (with probably an 8th tonight) so there are more than enough groups to go around, especially considering we want to prepare people for operations. :)

Ebon Hawk republic side

Sanctum of the Exalted imperial side

I'm by myself, because none of these damn people would roll on an RP server :p

Any good guilds there? There's always alts :p
The one I've had my eye on has temporarily closed applications due to "overwhelming interest", so I've been holding off on joining one; I also haven't had a ton of time to play, since I was out of town for Christmas, New Years, and the first full weekend in January. I'll report back if I join a good one :)
