[TV] Talk about the last TV you watched, the catchall thread

OitNB s3

Jesus Caputo's life is terrible. On top of that I even feel bad for Pennsatucky, and she was awful in s1. This show is getting really depressing.

Malcolm in the Middle.

AHAHAHAHA... Oh god, how did I never give this a chance back in the day? It's genius. GENIUS!
I had the same experience. I remember watching it a few times, and thinking, "Eh". Now I go back and watch, and it seems brilliant. I don't know if I'm older, or tv is worse.

Caught up with Orange is the New Black, waiting for next season is going to be torture.

Started Bates Motel, and it's pretty good so far. Norman's still pretty normal, but dang his mom's bonkers.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

SHOW ME THE FEVER, INTO THE FIIIIRE, TAKING IT HIGHER AND HIGHER! The best prequel mini-series I have ever seen, I mean that sincerely.

Rick and Morty

WOW this season is really topping itself with the dark.

Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp

This felt so true to the original, I'm glad they made it. However, the only thing I didn't like was
the revelation that Mitch really is the Can. I liked the idea that the Can of Vegetables was Gene's warped pysche. There was something wonderful about that.

Oh, and that they didn't film at the original Camp Firewood location. I understand the reasoning, and this insured that everyone would be able to appear, but still. CAMP TOWANDA FIREWOOD FOREVER!

Just finished season two of True Detective... shit that was convoluted. I think I have the whole season on DVR.

Man that show was full of bad tactical thinking.

I saw the leaked pilot of Lucifer. Even with my uncanny ability to ignore previous interpretations of a character, it was boring.

Just started watching Geek and Sundry's Critical Role and now I SUPER miss D&D. Herahk of the Black Tongue needs to live again. My inner lawful evil teifling warlock needs to be released.

Also, I'm now in love with both Marisha Ray and Laura Bailey.

Finished Daredevil with the fella this week. JESUS. Vincent D'Onofrio was so creepy and intense. I enjoyed it, but I got tired of hearing "this city" or "my city" every other minute. It got worse and worse near the end.

Still, four stars. I liked that the fight scenes showed the actors getting fatigued. They didn't seem like inhuman combat machines.

Not like DBZ where they hint that Goku and the baddie have been sparring for hours, only to have them stop and say something stupid like, "HAHA let's really fight now, we were only playing around, despite the fact that I received a massive laceration last episode and you seemed absolutely stunned by my power-up before the fight!"

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends

Spider-Friends, go for it! I'm trying to finish the series before Netflix takes it off. It seems like older shows and movies are dropping like flies on that service.

Pros: I like the costumes from the '70s and early '80s. I also prefer the more lighthearted story arcs of that era. You gotta love villains who laugh maniacally whenever they cause a blackout. This was before the Dark Age of Comics in the '90s, wherein characters clenched their teeth in every other panel, added tons of pockets to their costumes, and acted bitter about everything.

I've also seen one Stan Lee cameo thus far. Those are always a treat.

Cons: The animation leaves a lot to be desired by today's standards, and most of the sound effects are stock that were used in every other cartoon of that era. Some of the dialogue is also dated to such a degree that it makes one cringe. For example, Iceman was running away from the villain of the week after seizing a magical meteorite. He tucked it by his side as if carrying a football. As he made his escape he yelled, "Eat your heart out, OJ!"

Also, that dog is annoying as hell.

I LOVED this show as a kid/toddler! I had no idea it was on Netflix. I'm going to have to watch this again!
And yeah, Ms. Lion is annoying.

I, too, watched Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends back in the day. Dat Firestar tho. Between her and Scarlett over on GI Joe, I never stood a chance.

You have until the end of the month to watch it. Netflix is removing it after the 31st.

And yeah, Firestar is smokin' hot.

The guest stars are always enjoyable. There's one episode where the Black Knight visits New York. As he's flying in on his pegasus, J. Jonah Jameson looks up, shrugs, and mutters, "You see one super-clown and you've seen 'em all."

Given the show's time period, I wouldn't be surprised if the Harlem Globetrotters made an appearance.

For some reason I started looking up stuff on Klarion, The Witch Boy randomly online. this lead me to watching Misplaced episode of Young Justice again.

God damn it, why did they cancel that show. It was so goddamn good.

I've been thinking to rewatch YJ, it's been awhile. The only reason I haven't is I know I'll be sad when I hit the end and realize, yet again, that there won't be more. Had the same issue with Green Lantern Animated.

Yeah CN screwed the pooch with both of them. They claim its because of "Toy Sales" but it pretty fucking hard to sell toys- YOU NEVER MAKE OR ADVERTISE! For fuck's sake, the Team from Young Justice had normal, night, AND arctic suits- THEY FUCKING GIFT-WRAPPED THAT SHIT TO YOU!

No one wanted to touch a toyline where a full half of the cast were women. Zatanna, Miss Martian, Artemis, Bat Girl, Wonder Girl, Black Canary... they didn't think they could sell those toys to boys (and they didn't care if girls would buy them). So it got nixed.
