Dude trust me, this show can be INSANELY good if you give it a chance. Some episodes are silly and weird, and some are actually really well written and show deepness to the characters. Also I understand how you don't like how the show doesn't explain the setting in the beginning of the show and that is a chink in the armor. Pendleton Ward(the creator) actually explained it in an interview as a post-apoctalyptic world where after the atomic bombs decimated Earth destroying most of society, magic was able to creep back into the world. Also its theorized that the candy people were made from the radioactive fall-out. The show doesn't explain the setting to keep the mystery of what the "Great Mushroom War" was going.I think my problem with it is two fold:
1) It reminds me a lot of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which I never liked.
2) There was no introduction to the world we're presented at all. They just jump right into the first episode as if it's any episode. Except there are so many ridiculous concepts from the get-go that all I'm doing is just trying to keep up with the ridiculousness rather than enjoy it. I'm all like, "Candy people? What? Cloud people/world? What? Princess scientist in a fantasy realm? What?" There's no explanation of anything, like why there's only one human (and his dog, who is magical or...something?) or anything.
Normally, this would be fine. It's similar to, say, the old 80s cartoons like The Smurfs or something, where you could watch any episode. Except The Smurfs wasn't blatantly trying so hard to throw all these ridiculous concepts at you like a 4-year old telling a story.
I honestly never even considered this, but recently I was looking for books set in a post apocalyptic landscape, and I found wikipedia's list of post- apocalyptic fiction.2) There was no introduction to the world we're presented at all. Changed my persepective of that show.Television 2010 War Adventure Time
The adventures of Jake the dog and Finn the only known remaining human in the post-appocalyptic land of Ooo; living hundreds of years after the "Great Mushroom War".[109]
Well yeah but it shows it in like a second, so more like lightly lobbing it in your face is the proper term. They don't throw it in your face? I'm pretty sure there is an unexploded atomic bomb in the opening credits.
Egg-XACTLY! This show is whatever the hell it wants to be. Silly, dramatic, somber, shocking, a bunch of themes this show can give.Adventure Time kinda reminds me or a more wacky and jubilant version of Metalocalypse in that it seems to be about nothing really...then, out of the blue, it is suddenly about SOMETHING.
You have no idea. Supernatural is basically Buffy, but a bit more serious and FULL of co-dependency. I haven't seen a family this dysfunctional since the Bundy's.Just started watching both Doctor Who and Supernatural.
Guys.
I think I'm in trouble.
You see, I was obsessed with Buffy through my high school years. So...I'm getting in deep. You have no idea. Supernatural is basically Buffy, but a bit more serious and FULL of co-dependency. I haven't seen a family this dysfunctional since the Bundy's.
Also, Amreican Netflix is taking ovber my life. Phineas and Ferb! Jet loves this show...and I think I love it as well. It makes me laugh more than any sitcom.
Don't be, its a good program(though I feel there are a bit too many musical numbers). If it makes you feel more adult, the dad on that show is the writer/director of Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the Irving character is Jack MacBrayer ,30 Rock and Conan fame, and Seth Green also played a role or too. A loooooooooooootta guest-stars on that show.However...I really want to watch more Phineas and Ferb but I feel foolish just watching it on my own.
If you think the shows are satire, you should see the comic books they are based off of.Finished the original "The Tick", now I'm watching the live-action one with Patrick Warburton. Less a super hero show, and more of a satire. Still good though.
I've read bits and pieces but your definitely right. Gotta get the TPB of those some time.If you think the shows are satire, you should see the comic books they are based off of.
