And yeah, DDP's been teaching yoga for quite a few years now, apparently. I "legally obtained" some of his workout DVD's to try them. He has some odd variations on some poses' names, like a "Diamond Cutter" for a standing back arch, or "Thunderbolt" for chair pose. But it's a damn good workout. I had a good, light sweat going by the end of his 20-minute workout.

I just heard back from someone at Camel Press (a "small, but feisty" publisher). I'd sent them a copy of the manuscript back in November. And I quote:
"We are still in process of reviewing your submission. I just wanted to make sure that it's still available."
Holy crap...could it be? Fingers crossed, people! Cross everything you've got.
(I did, however, inform her that I've made a number of mostly grammatical and name revisions since my submission. That most especially counts all the insane amount of red inking that Quotemander Prime did for me. Hopefully, that doesn't hurt me too much.)

Just heard back from her about the revisions. Short and sweet, she said please send it along. So the latest, revised copy of the book is now in their hands.
Kept seeing that video everywhere, finally watched it. I think what makes it more impressive is that it doesn't try to be ridiculous. I mean, the guy gets hold of the pen and uses it to rewrite his life, but the story he tells isn't read by John Rhys-Davies nor Brian Blessed. Instead, it is told by Bill Bixby. Very matter-of-fact, almost ordinary. By the end, it's as if "never give up" isn't some kind of epiphany, but instead an accepted fact, like water always running downhill, or wind blowing.

My father turns 60 this year. What did he decide to do in his 59th year? Build a treehouse. For himself. It's pretty awesome.
Of course, this is the man who singlehandedly built our house, even if it was 30 years ago. I mean built it, not "hired a contractor" like most people mean when they say they built their house.

I... I have been getting teary-eyed off and on all day. My parents surprised Jake and me this morning by booking us 4 nights in the Coronado Hotel. Our room faces the ocean... Oh my God, this is more than I ever dreamed we'd be able to do!!! And we got Patton Oswalt tickets, too!

Is that the Hotel del Coronado? It is beautiful! Mr. Wasabi and I took a long weekend there before our daughter was born. We only lived about 10 miles away, but it was still nice.I...
