If you're going to quote that on a geek culture board with a mod who has "TWU WUV" inscribed in her engagement ring...

GET IT RIGHT!

I was expecting a whole separate thread. Great pics! Looks like so much fun. You guys really know how to party.

While none of the pieces of my week are epic by themselves, this week has had a high quantity of "win" that, combined, makes it epic. So, without further ado:

-There was an accounting error (in my favor) at school, and a grant I was supposed to have been awarded (but was removed for some reason) came through to reimburse me; so, out of nowhere, I'm about $1300 up from where I thought I'd be.
-I got either the highest or the second-highest grade in my class on my animal physiology midterm, and also scored a 97% on my midterm in what is probably the hardest cell/molecular bio class I'll have to take in undergrad.
-The girlfriend showed me Firefly, and I'm loving it; so much so that I went out the next day and found, then bought, the complete series for only $20.
-During the same trip, found and bought two CDs by two of my favorite bands for only $5 each at Rasputin's.
-I got a Nintendo DS lite after we got a perfect condition one traded in at work, then found somebody selling R4 cards and 4 GB flash memory for only $60. On another note, I now have lots and lots of perfectly legal copies of games I own to play (and will be buying Puzzle Quest: Galactrix as soon as possible).
-The girlfriend started playing Magic a couple weeks ago, and sort of got me back into it, and now my friends and I are splitting a booster box three ways to get our type 2 decks kick-started (and I'm going to fix up her deck so she can trash her roommate's cheap deck).
-I've worn the same set of shoes daily for more than six years. They've served me well, from my first trip to Japan, to a year abroad, to climbing Mt. Fuji, to riding a 300 foot roller coaster, to skydiving, to being dragged through more mud, rock, water, ocean, etc. You name it, these shoes have been through it. I'm keeping the shoes, but they're getting a much-needed retirement since I FINALLY went out and bought a new pair of shoes tonight (and, since it was buy one get one half off, I picked up a set of low-top shoes for drumming).

And I'd qualify this as epic by itself, simply because it was so sweet and unexpected. My girlfriend and I have only been dating for about three weeks, and she heard that one of my friends had a bunny up for adoption. She asked why I didn't adopt it, and I said we can't have pets where we live now; so, the next time we hung out, she told me to close my eyes. I opened them, and there was an adorable stuffed bunny with lop-ears (she knows I love lops; and she would've found me a Holland lop-sized bunny, but couldn't) sitting in my lap. She just smiled and said she hoped that it'd tide me over until I could get a real bunny.

(NOTE: I have named him Laggy, the lagomorph. Know him and fear him.)

I bet they are more dangerous than me, but that's beacuse I'm half italian. I kind of start eating pasta in the middle of every duel, getting me killed every time.

We enter attorney review this morning so hopefully once that's finished it will be officially mine.

Damn you, now I'll be moody all day. That sort of stuff hits me much more in the "don't want to be single" bone than the sexual exploits some of the other forumites post occasionally. Hmpf :humph:
Very happy for you, though, both for all the rest and for having such a nice girlfriend.

Unrelated, next time you see a chance, you should work into your conversation how much you'd like to keep a pussy at your place, but can't :eyeroll: just cementing my annoying idiot name here, nothing to see, move on

FINALLY I'm done with Biology! I never have to deal with that big hunk of mediocrity called Ms. Jackson ever again! And I gave you a horrible evaluation! Suck on that!

AND I nailed my final project. Nailed it. Nailed it like a frustrated businessman with a frigid wife nails a 50$ hooker! MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'm going to buy a massive cup of coffee tonight and online game and fart around until my eyes BLEED. BLEED I SAY!

I've been playing RO with the Fellow (not as good as WoW, but I'm there for the RPing and the adorable sprites :p), and not an MMO, but I'm probably gonna play Oblivion, too. I haven't touched it in a month, and I've been all itchy since I stopped playing!

Also, I've really been on to something with this old story that I wrote years and years ago. I'm working on another draft, and I really think I have something. The creative juices are flowing... I don't know what made it happen, but I'm gonna milk it for all it's worth!

Very good. Thank you.

Of course, that has to mean that your life from now on must be continuously so great that it doesn't register as a win anymore to have a wonderful day, you understand that, right? :-P

I have 5 lines with sprint, and two of them recently came out from under contract. I've been a customer of theirs for 9 years.

I called them up and said "You know, I've been thinking of canceling those two lines and getting iphones.."

Guess who got two brand new touch-screen Instincts in the mail yesterday? :D

comes with 2 gigs on an sd card, and i filled it up with tunes..been listening for 8 hours now, and surfed the web some on it, and played some games, and it's at about 55% battery power. Good times :)

Perhaps not an epic win, but a great relief for me nonetheless:

I returned the rough draft of my MA Thesis today. It's still thirty pages or so underlength, I'm unhappy about my "chatty" argumentation, and about 2/3 of it needs some heavy editing and rewriting... but I'm happy that I got it done.

I'll have myself a nice, long, peaceful May Day weekend, leave the parties to somebody else, and do two things I have not done in ages:
1.) See a good movie, either on DVD or in the theater.
2.) Sleep.

I never thought I'd actually want to cuddle a giant media corporation. Can't really say more than that except I'm almost in tears about how unexpectedly well some stuff is working out.

Hopefully good news regarding Scratch? Glad to hear it either way.

Health/insurance stuff, actually, but thanks for reminding me to specify that. Believe me, I'd love to share with you guys about Scratch but I'm not saying a word about it at the moment, as I'm sure you can understand.

Glad to hear it, Zen! :) :invisible high five, as well as invisible request to play Left 4 Dead sometime in the near future:

Not quite "epic" win, but still awesome for me nonetheless: but today was a great achievement for me. I was taking about 17-19 units a quarter since fall, but was also working 24-32 hours a week; I was also taking organic chemistry during this time, and just couldn't summon the werewithall to study enough to pull better than a mid to mid-high B on my exams in it. I already mentioned I got A's on my previous two midterms, but this just felt awesome getting an A on. And what's awesomer is, despite taking 22 units this quarter, I now have straight A's in all my science classes (four of them; one didn't have a midterm, and is just labwork), and may have straight-A's overall as soon as I get my results on the history exam.

/Effing LOVE not working 32 hours a week and going to school full-time.

Wow, verizon fios tech support was actually helpful!

10 minutes ago, my router died. It's a crappy ActionTec router, and the fuse in the brick died.

I have a shitty Dlink router for just such emergencies, but it's always a fight to get level 1 tech support to let me use it.

I happened to have my phone/cable/internet bill at hand, so I called the 800 number, spent a couple of minutes saying "operator, asshole!" until the computer at the other end went "I hear that you wish to speak to an agent. Is this correct?"

Was on hold 3 minutes.

The tech support guy for FIOS was really helpful.

Rather than telling me that I can't use my own router (which I know is bullshit), he said "well, sure, just unplug that cord that is in the slot that says WAN..."
at which point I interrupted him and said "I've already set the router up, but I don't know if I'm on PPPoE or not, since I was when I had FIOS in Houston. If I am, I just need the name/password." He immediately caught on that I was a computer professional and said "Oh, nope, you're on DHCP..you don't have an IP?" and I said "nope". So he said "Lemme send a break-release and that should fix it."

30 seconds later, i said "Woot..i have an IP address at the router..and yup, I have internet..thanks!"

I'm sure we were both happy that the other guy on the end of the line wasn't a total dumbass :)

FINALLY

Had a job interview today with the District Manager of Gamestop for two areas right near Atlanta. They're hiring in a ton of stores since school's almost out and a lot of employees are leaving the state (couple colleges in the area). I think it went really really well, and I hopefully will be hearing from them within the week for another interview.

CajunGal is just so quotable! Perhaps it's not epic, but when she gives us something interesting for a sig, we all win!
