While none of the pieces of my week are epic by themselves, this week has had a high quantity of "win" that, combined, makes it epic. So, without further ado:
-There was an accounting error (in my favor) at school, and a grant I was supposed to have been awarded (but was removed for some reason) came through to reimburse me; so, out of nowhere, I'm about $1300 up from where I thought I'd be.
-I got either the highest or the second-highest grade in my class on my animal physiology midterm, and also scored a 97% on my midterm in what is probably the hardest cell/molecular bio class I'll have to take in undergrad.
-The girlfriend showed me Firefly, and I'm loving it; so much so that I went out the next day and found, then bought, the complete series for only $20.
-During the same trip, found and bought two CDs by two of my favorite bands for only $5 each at Rasputin's.
-I got a Nintendo DS lite after we got a perfect condition one traded in at work, then found somebody selling R4 cards and 4 GB flash memory for only $60. On another note, I now have lots and lots of perfectly legal copies of games I own to play (and will be buying Puzzle Quest: Galactrix as soon as possible).
-The girlfriend started playing Magic a couple weeks ago, and sort of got me back into it, and now my friends and I are splitting a booster box three ways to get our type 2 decks kick-started (and I'm going to fix up her deck so she can trash her roommate's cheap deck).
-I've worn the same set of shoes daily for more than six years. They've served me well, from my first trip to Japan, to a year abroad, to climbing Mt. Fuji, to riding a 300 foot roller coaster, to skydiving, to being dragged through more mud, rock, water, ocean, etc. You name it, these shoes have been through it. I'm keeping the shoes, but they're getting a much-needed retirement since I FINALLY went out and bought a new pair of shoes tonight (and, since it was buy one get one half off, I picked up a set of low-top shoes for drumming).
And I'd qualify this as epic by itself, simply because it was so sweet and unexpected. My girlfriend and I have only been dating for about three weeks, and she heard that one of my friends had a bunny up for adoption. She asked why I didn't adopt it, and I said we can't have pets where we live now; so, the next time we hung out, she told me to close my eyes. I opened them, and there was an adorable stuffed bunny with lop-ears (she knows I love lops; and she would've found me a Holland lop-sized bunny, but couldn't) sitting in my lap. She just smiled and said she hoped that it'd tide me over until I could get a real bunny.
(NOTE: I have named him Laggy, the lagomorph. Know him and fear him.)
