This might very well be the last post I ever make.

Awesome! I hate to bring up the annoyances, but be aware that you may have state and federal taxes to pay on it that are significantly higher than your normal tax rate (winnings and all). Better to plan for that now and learn what the deal is before you find out the hard way...

I'm not all that clear on the specifics, but they said that the property taxes are already paid off, and they'll cover insurance for a year.

Yup, pretty sure I'm being punk'd right about now.

Or the car will be a death machine a la christine.

It's the only way I can make sense of this.

What a difference from the little bag of nylon with aluminium sticks.

Now just have to get a ground cover to protect the floor and I'm set.

Dude, ukuleles are tiny, so either you're fibbing, she ain't covering much, or you're into dwarf porn.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The comedic bit is the smaller woman is holding something like a dreadnought and the taller woman is holding the uke, but she turns a bit sideway to help with minimising the area to cover.

Here's a picture of Cajungal with her ukulele and her clothes. :p

It was pretty cheap and doesn't stay in tune that well... but until I knew I was gonna commit to it I didn't wanna spend too much. I'm having fun. :D

Nice! I want to have a collection of stringed instruments when I grow up.
Anything and everything with strings? So you'll be a guitar/uke/violin/cellist or something like that?... you know, assuming you play them as well as collect them.

Well, guitar-shaped. Want list: banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, dobro, ukelele, and a balalaika. Though, I love the cello. It's probably my favorite stringed instrument. I can't justify or afford >4k. :waah:

Graduating in a week from a prestigious West Coast University. Should be momentous.

Whoo!!

I was just told (yesterday, actually) that I've been given a felloship for a three month stay (the summer) in a major phyisics research institution here in barcelona! (The Photonic Sciences Institute or ICFO)

I'll be 'measuring the inherent noise in DNA mollecules' with optical tweezwers. How does that sound to you? No, I don't really get it either*. But it sure is a way of knowing if I like biophysics before choosing in what master's degree I'll get (bio, astro, or computational phyisics?)!!!

It's gonna be fun :D

Incidentally, I've been told by a friend who had this same fellowship last year that I'll (probably) be given some holidays, so I CAN go to the trip I was fearing would be canceled: the 10th (actually make that 11th) anniversary celebration of my close-knitted group of friends!!!

*Well, I do understand it a little bit. But not much, really!

It very much seems so!!

We'll, I've seen the device in a lab already and it isn't impressive at all, of course. But it's awesome nonetheless!! It does awesome things, for sure. For instance: you can break single mollecules and then let them re-glue together.

Oh god am I excited about this!! ^^

Yeah, well, you are studying physics. I can tell you that doesn't sound as exciting and awesome to me as it does to you...
The english word that comes to mind is "neat".

And, of course, I'm more interested in the travel thing!

I'm going to Disney World!

Yes, really. I'm leaving on Saturday, early, to go with my family. I might be too busy packing tomorrow to post. I'll be gone 9 days, and won't be checking the forums while I'm gone. I don't own a laptop.

I'm so excited. I haven't been in nearly 13 years. My screen name is, in part, inspired by Figment the Dragon from EPCOT's Journey Into Imagination. (It's also due to the fact that I have some friends who at one point thought I didn't exist, and was just a story made up by other mutual friends.)

Congrats. I didn't know we had any prestigious universities on the West Coast.
They're all south of Palo Alto... :whistling:

I would be excited, too, and I am really not into physics at all!
