Congrats, dude! I know you've been working hard! :D
Aw shucks, not that hard. :)

But I'll be good to go by vacation time. :D Plus I tan reeeeeal easy, so that's a plus. :)

Booked my vacation to Cuba this morning!

I leave in 16 days.

SUPER EXCITED. My brother gave me his last 3 peso bill, and a handful of condoms. I'm taking it as a hint.

...Also, I get to see my beautiful lady again at long last tomorrow!

The bad news: I'm sick AGAIN.... during another school holiday, darn it.

The good news: I made my special soup (deeelicious), and the fellow has been working his ass off all day to make me laugh and keep my spirits up. These two things, one more than the other, have made me positive that I'll be feeling much better in the morning. And now I rest with the knowledge that I'm a lucky lady. :D I think I'll bake him a cake next weekend.

Thanks. I think I caught it early enough to where it won't completely immobilize me like last time, hehe. Lots of vitamins (via my special soup), water, and rest...

Tornadoes just swooped down on the city, winds knocked out our power for a while, but everything seems cool now.

EDIT: Except for the house that was leveled by a car hurled through it. Yikes!

Yesterday was so much fun and I felt so good, it was like someone turned the clock back six years and I was my old self again. Haven't had a day (or, er, night!) like that since my wedding.

My brother's girlfriend went to Seattle a few days ago and came back with a copy of the Watchmen script for me. No idea why exactly but I'm wonderfully grateful.

HELL YES. I just found a pair of sandals online that are identical to the ones I wore holes through. That shit never happens! I can actually keep wearing the shoes I love. ^_^

Woo! Where in CA?
SoCal. Close to LA. I would tell more but I cant think right now... :D

Long Beach I believe.

Tonight, I went to my first stint as a tutor. It's going to be a regular 1-hour a week thing with a second grade boy that's having trouble with reading. By the end of the hour, which included helping him with other homework as well, I discovered where he's having trouble in his reading: words with combinations of letter sounds, such as "St" or "Ch" or "ew" (like chew). Also helped him with some information on building a homemade volcano for the science fair tomorrow. I had no idea how easy those were to make!

But the best part of it? I enjoyed the time so much that it's officially cemented my calling in life: working with and/or teaching kids. It's a plan that I've had for a number of years, but it's only recently I've had the chance to start getting some actual related volunteer experience (moving to Toronto helped). Once I've completely my B.A., I'm going to try applying to teach in Korea for a year.

Basically, what it boils down to is this:

"Oh, why hello there life calling! It's nice to finally meet you!"

Yay, Dr. Pepper is $1 a 2L again! This time Wal-Mart had a case right by the door. No more running out before I get there!

That's cheaper than a 20 ounce.

And in my own news, I'm handwriting this text on my new tablet pc. Woo hoo.

Also, Long Beach is great. There are some sketchy parts but nothing you'd end up in from a guidebook or anything. I cannot recommend the aquarium too highly. I went through their volunteer training (and almost ended up working with the mammals, le sigh), plus have interpreted for them on one occasion, and it's a beautiful facility with great research and breeding programs behind the scenes.

That whole area in the harbor is so nice. I haven't been to the Queen Mary but I hear it's worth a visit.

Decided to check my blood pressure yesterday since I had problems with it being high while I was pregnant with my son. It was 119/73. Hopefully, it stays this way so I don't need monitoring again. Woo!

Just a win, not an epic win:
I just landed a couple-day contract job modifying some code I wrote years ago for a company. It will pay for all of the Irish honeymoon but the airfare.

I also sent them a proposal to re-write their software in .NET (since I originally wrote it 8 years ago)...if they accept that proposal, that's enough for 10 trips to Ireland. That will be an epic win :)

I.am.a.lucky.bastard.

Holy shit. I have been studying for a Statistics exam for 2 days with little sleep (~3-4 per night). My exam was at nine this morning. I woke up at 7:45 and got ready for class. I had about 15 minutes before the bus would come by and I did the unthinkable. I laid down on my bed. I fell asleep!!! I woke up at 9:07! I ran and caught a bus and got to the exam at 9:20. The exam ends at 10:15! Oh, shit! I flew through the exam, writing, calculating furiously! Standard deviations are burning across the pages. I get to the last page. I have 5 questions left, and the professor calls time, and he picks up the exam. I am sunk. I feel terrible. I knew I could have answered the question if I had time. As I was leaving, the prof catches up to me and tells me to stop by his office. I do so, and he tells me he'll give me 15 min to work on the exam!! He said I am the only one who has come by during his office hours, and/or participates in class, and he appreciates that!! FUCKING WOOT! I almost felt like crying. I finish the questions, and skip to my next class like a little girl!

I had an experience like that once. In class we had a discussion as to whether the final should be held on Monday or Wednesday and in a moment of confusion I wrote down Wednesday on my notes. Come Tuesday, one of my buddies from the class asks where I was during the final. I about near fainted when i realized I had missed it. I went to the professor right away and explained the situation with trembling knees and expecting the worst. Fortunately he just rolled his eyes and let me take the test anyway right then and there. I've never felt so relieved in my life.

Damn you, they do'nt sell Dr. Pepper in anything but cans here...And it's €1/can, making it to about €6/2L or $9/2L. Damn you and your cheap country ways.

Wow, and I was refusing to pay $1.50 a 2L!
