It doesn't really feel like the Punisher to me so far, after 4 episodes. I don't say that as a bad thing.
Well stop trying to "Netflix and Chill" her!My wife hates overly violent shows, and was thinking of skipping Punished. We're half way through, and it's one of her favorite series so far. Behind Jessica Jones. She's had to leave the room gagging a couple times, but overall it hasn't been too bad.
Mr. Z said it focuses more on PTSD and less on "shoot everything in sight", so I can see why.I feel ya, but it's worth checking out. Considering the source material, it has no business being as good as it is. I've seen fans of Punisher in the comics get mad at the show for its portrayal, if that helps.
If you still have the SE, you can. They might be reeeeeally small, but you can still press them.I really wish I could like posts on my phone because that was deserving of a funny rating!
Comics Punisher always came across to me as a character who wanted really badly to have a reason to lose it and kill as many people as he could, and when his family died he was like "Finally! I can cut loose and blame them for it!" Whereas MCU Frank Castle comes across as someone genuinely devastated by losing his family and blaming himself for it every day, but also feeling a compulsion to take everything away from the people who took everything from him, even if it hurts him too.Mr. Z said it focuses more on PTSD and less on "shoot everything in sight", so I can see why.
Well, he did start off as an antagonist to Spidey...Comics Punisher always came across to me as a character who wanted really badly to have a reason to lose it and kill as many people as he could, and when his family died he was like "Finally! I can cut loose and blame them for it!"
It doesn't look CGI in the slightest to my eyes.Chime in on a debate my 14 year old son and I are having. He swears that Punisher looks CGI to him. I don't see it. He says it looks just like a video game cutscene, and not just because of the texture, but because they keep choosing angles to him that look like the camera is about to zoom into 1st person and give you control.
I counter that a) it's because cutscenes are mimicking movies, not the other way around. b) It's the low-key lighting scheme. c) Each marvel show has it's own distinctive visual markers. For the previous shows, it was a color filter. For Punisher, it seems to be an age/grain filter. They also use this filter to hide unrealistic sharpness in video game cutscenes, so I think his brain is making the connection there.
Wrong thread?DERP.
Ugh YES. Fixed.Wrong thread?
Because a doctor who knows all of your injuries has the ability to put two and two together for your secret identity. Fucking Bruce Wayne ONLY trusts a certain free clinic doctor (Dr. Leslie Thompkins) in Crime Alley because she was a college of his father's and she's BEEN there since back then. And he STILL goes to see her for anything Alfred can't do because he knows she's the only god damn healthcare in that part of town. She goes to Wayne Manor to treat Bruce? Some kid dies of a gun shot wound in Crime Alley.I've been gradually catching up on the Marvel Netflix shows since my sister let me mooch off her Netflix account. Of all the things that could have driven me to comment in this thread, it's a nit-pick about Iron Fist....
How do these billionaires not have access to a concierge doctor? When you're that rich, doctors still make house calls, at any hour. You really expect me to believe that a man like Ward Meachum, who grew up rich and powerful, has a doctor who won't take his calls? Rand Enterprises probably has a hospital wing named after it, if not an entire hospital. This guy should have tremendous pull with a doctor.
Not to mention that a spoiled rich kid who did all that shit to Danny growing up, well he probably knows a drug dealer or seven. This whole thing is just indicative of the massive character inconsistencies in this show. No one is written cohesively.
Ward and Joy Meachum ARE NOT HEROES!Because a doctor who knows all of your injuries has the ability to put two and two together for your secret identity. Basically, the issue is you just can't trust anyone with your healthcare information. It's all they need to find out you're a hero.
Same problem though; your mob doctor is somebody you gotta trust with your life. Somebody who won't sequel to the cops or your enemies about your various health problems, lest they use them for leverage against you. There's a reason most mob doctors are "in the family" so to speak.Ward and Joy Meachum ARE NOT HEROES!
All the more reason that, if they were consistently written, they'd already have one. What is Ward? Is he an incompetent boob who is in over his head? If that's the case, then he'd have had druggie friends growing up and he'd still have connections now. Or, at least, he'd know a doctor that he had leverage on and try to get drugs that way. Or is he an experienced "legitimate" businessman? In which case he should know enough to have connections with a confidential doctor. His father was obsessed with certain medical subjects, after all. As it is, the show has him written as both and neither.Same problem though; your mob doctor is somebody you gotta trust with your life. Which is weird, because I've had arguments with a cousin-in-law who's 10 years younger than me that the only reason I get weirded out by stuff like Grand Moff Tarkin and Leia in Rogue One (awful!) is because they look too real. He and my younger cousins literally can't tell the CGI from the people. Your son can't tell either but the opposite direction.Chime in on a debate my 14 year old son and I are having. Apparently, season two of Iron Fist is having a different showrunner than the first season. Hopefully this is a preview of things to come.Luke Cage season 2 -
Good stuff. Very good stuff. Bushmaster is so much more interesting than Copperhead, and less ridiculous. And holy shit, they actually got me to enjoy Finn Jones being on screen. That's no small feat.
Do you mean Diamondback?Luke Cage season 2 -

Er, yeah. Brain fart.Do you mean Diamondback?
Wow, you actually found one Marvel hasn't used... (had to check, though)Gartersnake.
It's got to be a woman who wears stockings. Actually I'm surprised they didn't do this in the 50's & 60's.Wow, you actually found one Marvel hasn't used... (had to check, though)
They got you covered there:It's got to be a woman who wears stockings. Actually I'm surprised they didn't do this in the 50's & 60's.
