There's never a wrong reason to boo Bettman. And I thought it was unclassy when they basically drowned out Bettman after handing over the Connie and Lord Stanley.
2 things,I was thinkin' that too. The stories about the game and about the cup run are all buried under the stories of the riots.
Not blaming your sister at all but let me tell you if most people NOT involved in the riot would leave at LEAST 80% of people would leave, causing a lot of issue for the rioters as they are incredibly easy to find and subdue. In fact, they'll probably leave as well as they have no where to hide within a crowd. She should have bolted at the first sign of that crap.
+1. The only thing Boston and Vancouver fans had in common last night was the hatred for Buttman. Also, for the record, Gary Bettman deserves to be booed at every opportunity. He's a shitty commish.
I agree with the statements on people leaving. I've never had to do any sort of riot duty (this town is small and stupid) and I dread the day I would be called on to do so.Not blaming your sister at all but let me tell you if most people NOT involved in the riot would leave at LEAST 80% of people would leave, causing a lot of issue for the rioters as they are incredibly easy to find and subdue. I played Assassin's Creed and this is my opinion.

This is why I feel the cops should warn people a fixed number of times and then start to disperse the crowd with stronger methods. As someone who loves the sport and loves his city I cannot abide for this bullshit.
When the riots happened in MTL a few years back a personal friend put facebook pictures up him at the event and doing classless shit. I saved everything and took printscreens of the comments. The next day I sent an email to my friend (who's also a client, remember I work in the security field) at the SPVM and sent him the data package.
My friend got picked up by the police who knocked at his door 2 days later.
He was charged and convicted and spent 4 months in jail, directly because of me and he never found out.
I unfriended him soon afterwards.
I would do it again.
No, because they'd be dead.If it were Iran and a bunch of morons were rioting because their sports team lost a championship, we wouldn't be cheering them on.
We want you to look the other way as costumed vigilantes kick the rioter asses 8 ways from Sunday. All I'm reading are reports that police weren't brutal enough.
WHICH IS IT PUBLIC AT LARGE?
WHO DO YOU WANT TO SHOW UP?
Where is the magic line the media and the public want the police to walk?
I agree with everything said here except it being easy to get out of Vancouver, at least last night anyway. Soon after the trouble started the skytrains, buses and bridges out were closed with only the skytrains coming back up later in the evening. In no way do I condone what happened though at all. It's funny. Before the game, there were tonnes of jokes on my Facebook feed from Vancouverites saying "Hey, looters, pick me up an Ipad while you're out there."
Not so many jokes now.
I have to agree with Jay. Even the people taking pictures/video are part of the problem. Just leave, it's not hard to get out of Vancouver. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Standing by (and cheering) the rioters may not make you culpable for the damage done, but it certainly makes you an idiot.
Pretty much this. This wasn't disappointed hockey fans. This was preplanned. Hockey fans don't bring balaclavas, bricks, and molotov cocktails to the game.
I don't have a problem with this. This is why I feel the cops should warn people a fixed number of times and then start to disperse the crowd with stronger methods. As someone who loves the sport and loves his city I cannot abide for this bullshit.

Exactly. But even if it were someplace less likely to result in immediate death, the point remains. If this were a riot about government austerity measures and disappearing freedoms, or 40 or 50 years of dictatorship concealed as democracy, then yes, they'd probably be getting some support right now. As it is, these are just a bunch of anarchist fuckwads who decided to take advantage of a crowded night. I wouldn't support a bunch of anarchist fuckwads in Iran, Syria, China, the UK, Ireland, etc., and I won't support them in Vancouver either. No, because they'd be dead.
I appreciate this post and will strive to be less Jay with you in the future, when applicable.I don't have a problem with this.
And after careful consideration, I have to say I really don't have a problem with you... sir.
However, I reserve the right to call you an asshole when situations warrant. And when it's funny.
(BTW, I'm not Korean.)
