[Webcomic] The Order of the Stick thread

Aaaaaaaaaand I'm caught up, and ready to join you all in the torment of waiting for new comics to appear!
Dammit man, you made me think there was a new update.

That's it. You're fired.

Also, apparently the reason for the lack of updates is Rich has been working on the fifth book, which will be MASSIVE, collecting everything from 687-946. It'll likely be at least twice as which as the largest volume (Vol. 3: War & XP's). From what I've gleaned on the forums and some of Rich's comments, the plan is to release around Christmas time this year. Hopefully.

Accidental trolling, is best trolling.

And I'm cool with the wait, good art, story and book organization takes time yadda yadda. Better to wait for a good comic for a few weeks, than wait a god damned year hoping the story will be resolved or continued only for them to reboot because that's the easy way out.

Ookoodook.com is now updated with sales information on the new compilation book: Blood Runs in the Family.

Also, there's information about the new 2015 calendar, Heroes of OOTS.

Oh, and there's a new comic online.

I wonder what it could be? If he is resurrected will the demon entity still have control?

I could also see him going to the temple, and just killing the cleric once they are alone. Afterward he could come out and say that it didn't work and won't work for some made up reason. That way they won't try again later.

Thanks!
EDIT: Now he just needs to have his talons did.
...except that then he won't have any mental attention for anything else.

Seems like the vampire is part of a VERY long game by the arch-fiends. This is the same game that involved empowering the elf, running around with the linear guild, and some stuff with the imp that I can't remember. It will be very interesting when it starts coming together, but I would be surprised if we see it any time soon, even within the next year.

Welp, I broke down tonight and pre-ordered the latest book. Hopefully - *knocks on wood* - it'll be here before Christmas. It'll start shipping around the first week of December, so...yeah, we'll see.

I ordered a book from them on Thursday, got shipping notification on Friday and it should be here around Tuesday or so. You have a good chance of it being there in plenty of time.

I find orders from the states tend to take quite a bit longer to reach the Great White North, though.

I hope it gets to Europe before they're all out of print...
On the other hand, I recently just found a store in London that had Volume 1! So my collection (except 5) will soon be complete :D

Nice! Wonder how that'll affect a vampire...

First, the subject gains a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures.
Second, the barrier blocks any attempt to possess the warded creature (by a magic jar attack, for example) or to exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment (charm) effects and enchantment (compulsion) effects that grant the caster ongoing control over the subject, such as dominate person). The protection does not prevent such effects from targeting the protected creature, but it suppresses the effect for the duration of the protection from evil effect. If the protection from evil effect ends before the effect granting mental control does, the would-be controller would then be able to mentally command the controlled creature. Likewise, the barrier keeps out a possessing life force but does not expel one if it is in place before the spell is cast. This second effect works regardless of alignment.
Third, the spell prevents bodily contact by summoned creatures. This causes the natural weapon attacks of such creatures to fail and the creatures to recoil if such attacks require touching the warded creature. Good summoned creatures are immune to this effect. The protection against contact by summoned creatures ends if the warded creature makes an attack against or tries to force the barrier against the blocked creature. Spell resistance can allow a creature to overcome this protection and touch the warded creature.
