How much you want to bet that Hayley's father has been imprisoned by these guys, and that they regularly depose and change out the figurehead ruler, changing the name in the process, in order to prevent their own downfall, like other nations in the area?

In fact, I can't think of any other reason, plot-wise, that this subplot would have reared its head.
Another prediction for the comic: the only members of the order that will be alive at the end of the comic's run are Elan, Haley, and Roy.

First, there's the things that have already been revealed in the plot (we know for sure Belkar is going to die, the oracle told Durkon that he'll be returning to his hometown "posthumously," and V's got the whole deal-with-the-devil thing that just can't end well) and second, there are only three recurring members of the linear guild -- Nale (elan's opposite), Sabine (haley's opposite), and Thog (Roy's opposite).
