In D&D Basic demi-Humans (Dwarves, Halflings, Elves...) had level caps, yet they also had abilities that went differently and used letters. Belkar was beaten back to Basic.

Ditto. To be honest, I'm still a little confused on its reading order.
Look at the top panels. Each frame, left to right, represents the sun at a different point in the sky, indicating the passage of time. So, the things happen chronologically from left to right.
