Garrgh! I'm trapped in a glass cage of emotions! I'm so angry and proud, I'm angry proud! My firstborn child was able to steal the entire batch of turkey bacon and eat it undetected! I wanted to do that!
Soon he will kill and devour the dominant male.

So, after years of not being able to afford much needed dental work and watching my teeth slowly rot out of my mouth no matter how much I brushed and flossed, I'm getting dentures on Tuesday. I'm actually looking forward to it because the last tooth to go was one of my front teeth.

You know, thanks to a certain thread, there's a dozen or so of you guys for whom I have an indelible mental image of being anime schoolgirls whenever you post.

I kind of want to get a new pair of baby rats, but I don't see how well it can go. Neither of our adult males are neutered and fortunately they get along, but I'm worried that:

A. we get females, they'll start fighting over that, plus we get pregnant rats
B. we get males, we might have to neuter them eventually ($300 a pop) because the added hormones in the environment could cause fighting between the older boys, who are too old to safely neuter.

Then there's the fact that my aunts and cousins are moving to Arizona in June and want us to move too. We haven't made a decision yet, but it's clear we can't make that kind of trip while the rats are alive. If we get new ones, it's as good as saying no (which might happen anyway because Arizona sounds like the surface of the sun).

I would like to help another couple of babies have a good home and I'd like our older boys to have some more active cagemates/neighbors to get them off their lazy asses, but it might be too complicated.

Rats don't travel well?
Not really. They stress easily when their environment is shifted. I'd never put them under an airplane, and a days-long drive with them in a little cage in the backseat would not only make a mess, but would be hard on them.

Honestly, that's just a bullet point on the list of reasons not to go. I've never wanted to live in Arizona, even the couple times I visited. I wish my family was moving somewhere else so this decision would be an easy yes and not an easy no.

So maybe we'll get new rats after all.

Boy, Seattle is really starting the new year right. So far we have multiple shootings and assaults in multiple locations that appear to be tied together somehow, in addition to one person who was shot in the head and chest at a NYE party, two fatal collisions, and a water rescue that became a recovery effort after what looks like a polar-bear swim by three people.

Me "Here Thing 1, here's a great movie for us to watch Labyrinth!"
Thing 1 "Who's that girl?"
Me "That's the movies star! She learns what a true hero she really is!"
Thing 1 "And who's that girl?"
Me "That's David Bowie."

I'd like to take this moment to let you all know that Claudia Black has the world's sexiest voice. Thank you and good night.

"Well, well, what have we here? Are you a vulture, I wonder? A scavenger poking amidst a corpse whose bones have been long since cleaned? Or merely an intruder, come into these darkspawn filled wilds of mine in search of... easy prey?"
