I saw that a lot when the local telco that I worked for was bought out. "Oh, it's just internet support. They can do that anywhere. They need customer support in the area so customers know we're still here." "They can do customer service anywhere. They wouldn't get rid of sales. They need us here for the customers." Etc. That is until a huge snow storm shut down the city where their only call center was and no one could come in to answer any of the calls. Then they decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep some call center people at other locations and rehired people.What I don't understand is a bunch of the folks that I worked with went back to them, either through futureshop or best buy mobile. Other than needing a job because you couldn't find anything else, which is almost never the case here, I would never have put any faith in them again, and now that the same is happening, watching these people be surprised it baffles me.
