This is an odd one for me. Becuase porn messes with your mind. And does contribute to how those who watch it view, particularly, women.About to post my picture of the day on facebook. A friend has posted a link that says "Don't marry a man who does any of these things!"
...Okay, I'll bite, friend. They're all pretty obvious-- if he beats you, emotionally abuses you, doesn't contribute... but nestled between these horrible offenses is... watches porn.
*starts singing one of these things is not like the other*
Other peeps have put it better than me:
Gia Londo:
Cindy Gallop:When a man watches a woman get fucked on screen, he sees his conquest, his fuck doll, his wet-dream inspired perfect sex object, served up for him on a silver platter, gift wrapped and ribboned, ready for his consumption. But a woman- she sees herself. She masturbates to her own objectification, commodification, dehumanization and sexual punishment. She masturbates to ‘shut up and take it, slut’. She masturbates to ‘I’ll shove two dry fingers in your cunt, that’ll teach you’. She masturbates to ‘this is what your body is for. A vessel for my cock. A meal to chew up and spit out. A body to wipe drool and semen on. This is who you are’.
Full article here.Because we don’t speak about sex, there is no socially acceptable language surrounding it. So the language of porn has jumped in to fill that space, and that’s an issue, because in a male-dominated industry the language of porn is all too often male-generated. The person who coined the term “finger blasting” didn’t have a vagina. The person who coined the term, “getting your ass railed” never got their ass railed. Pounding, hammering, banging… And language matters, because when the only language you have available is abusive and one-directional, in terms of having things done to you, it creates a very weird view of how sex works.
Now, is that what the post you're referring to was concerned about... meh.. probably not. But. That doesn't mean that porn use should be uncritically accepted... or rejected.
