You need to walk around with the mug up by your face while making the same face.
If no one comments then, you know there are problems.

Hookay... Last day before heading off to the hospital.

Couldn't sleep last night, mind bouncing everywhere, even considered writing a traditional Finnish enchantment to ward off cancer. I know, strange thoughts, strange thoughts...

Hopefully all goes well, and I damn well want them to get the damn operation done as soon as possible. It's not the procedure itself that scares me, it's the damn waiting and mulling about it that is driving me bonkers, bat-shit insane, up the wall and few other appropriate euphemisms.

Still, trying to be hopeful. Hell, I pretty much have to get better. Three friends of mine have actually told me they'll kick my ass if I don't. And two of them are women, so I'll do all I can to avoid their wrath :p

Good thoughts heading your way. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks. Might be a few days before I'm out of the hospital - so much depends on whether the tumor's malignant or benign. But I'll let you know when I'm back. Or when I get bored out of my skull and ask for the folks to bring my laptop over.

Back from the hospital. The operation's tomorrow morning, and since I live practically next door to the hospital - thus making me a likely candidate for undead lunch in case of a zombie apocalypse - I opted to come home to sleep for the night.

Metric crapload of tests of various bodily fluids, X-rays, checking my heart and lungs in preparation... that's what my day mostly entailed.

The bad news is that the majority of tumors like this are malignant, meaning cancer.

The good news is that as a 28-year-old non-smoker it is highly unlikely for me to develop such a cancer.

Won't know for sure for another three weeks, though. Tomorrow they're going to "shave" the bugger off and keep me hospitalized for the weekend
with a pipe up my dick and a plastic urine bag next to me,
and send the tumor to the pathologist. Until his report comes in, it's merely academic guessing whether or not I have cancer or just an abnormally placed wart or something.

The nurses were nice, but I thank God that the doctor I met isn't going to be the one to operate on me. I swear, the man looked and sounded like he was baked like a wedding cake. And when it comes to letting a man with a knife near my John Thomas, I do prefer someone who doesn't have Funky Town playing in his noggin.

Just pray to God that they don't put that pipe in wrong the first time! Trust me, it sucks! :(
...

It's kinda like hearing about those porn videos that involve a vagoo, a mouse and a transparent, hollow tube. You are tempted to ask but at the same time horrified about the answer.

Imagine an inflated balloon blocking all attempts to urinate, resulting in the worst having-to-piss pain of your life. And none of the nurses believe you that something's wrong. Yeah.

Little bit drunk for the first time in a long time. Company had wine and cheese to celebrate good fiscal year. Some of us stayed a while. Boss dropping f-bomb is funny.

Also who didn't see Ginjo being a bad guy like a billion miles away?

Yeah... the operation got postponed. There was a fire in one part of the hospital complex (the TYKS or Turku University Central Hospital is a rather big one), and while I hear there's no casualties, much of that part of the hospital had to be evacuated. Including the ICU, which now needed an available operating theatre - which inded up being the one where I was supposed to go.

Got a new operating time for Monday morning, plus some new and quite disturbing medical information. Apparently the tumor is located in such a way that it has effectively blocked my left urinary tract, i.e. the line connecting my left kidney to the bladder. Effect: the kidney has shut down its operations. And while that sounds severe, the doctor who will perform the operation told me that there will be no ill effect to having a defunct kidney. A single kidney alone can handle the job and then some, so having two is something of an evolutionary redundancy. Plus, the defunct kidney will not be rejected by the body, so unless there are some complications with the tumor that will require a more drastic operation (such as removal of the bladder, eek!), there's no medical reason to pluck it out.

In other words, I'll be spending a few more days in waiting.

The silver lining to all of this is that now I can attend a friend's housewarming party tomorrow :p

This would be the random crap thread. To get to the rant thread, take a left at Awesome Videos and keep going forward. If you come to the corner of Say Something About the Previous Poster and One Pic Thread, you've gone too far.

Oh, ok, good. So I did put it in the right place, where things don't have to have anything to do with anything then.

I woke up on a weekend after only 7 hours of sleep. YES! Seriously, I've been dreaming of the day when I start to be more like my mother, who is wide awake and refreshed after just 5 hours. Come onnnn, five hours!

Okay, going to the hospital, take two.

Hopefully this time there won't be a fire or a tsunami or a flood or a Godzilla attack...

See you on the flip side, folks.
