Let me just say, as one of the forumites who remembers the Joe years, that y'all haven't experienced overmoderation yet. Hell, my own thread got locked the other day, one I had great hopes for... and not for anything I did. I'm not ready to scream "fascism." This "community" survived being a subforum of a site where the head admin was known to have banned people because they disagreed with him politically. Pez has been given his subforum to do his thing in, and whatever's done in the confines of it I'm not too bent out of shape about, even though I guffaw about the faint odor of white knight wafting through it. It's not quite the end of the forum as we know it.

Yes Gas, I'm one of those that has been around since then. My point is "if you smell fumes, you tell someone before someone lights a match". I wasn't just going to sit around and say nothing about the nonsence going around because yes, it can lead to worse things if noone speaks up.

We tried to do this with our neighbours who were renting the basement. They used up our monthly bandwidth downloading I dont know what, which meant a higher monthly bill, and they never actually paid up either.

I had a work-term for my college at the office of the chief information officer for the government here. At the end of the summer, our division had a party to say good-bye to us students at the house of the director (my boss). We were out in his backyard and I checked my phone for wifi. There were dozens of networks within range, all secured, save one. Guess who's it was? Yup. The director of an IT division for the provincial/state government. Well done.

These are the people who buy $400 network cables and the $700 "Blackbody" thingies that no one really knows what it does or how it works. So the question is no surprise at all, but still.

Random thought: What ever happened to GrueBeard? I remember I painted three painting for him and he paid me VERY vicely for them...but I forgot to take pictures of them before I sent them off.

I wish I knew if they were still classin' up his living room.

As the only person in the office today, I was tasked to update our Facebook page with our office hours for New Year's. It came out as such:
Just a reminder, this year New Year's Eve falls on December 31st. This also happens to be a Saturday. If your branch is ordinarily open on a Saturday, it will be closed for the holiday. We will also be closed Monday January 2nd, which is like Boxing Day for New Year's Day. Our ATMs, telephone and online banking do not get time off for holidays however, and will be open for your convenience.

I am awaiting the call from our advertising person complaining about being too cheeky on Facebook. Countdown starts now!
